AFTER CREATING THE WOMAN, GOD could have headed back to heaven but didn’t. This was because there was still something very important He NEEDED to do. Yes, it was true that the woman He’d made was for no one else but Adam and he would definitely find her and begin living with her if He left. But God knew that it was fundamental and imperative to formally present the Wife he’d made to the man for whom He had made her.

In our Anchor scripture, we’re told: AND BROUGHT HER UNTO THE MAN. He didn’t want the man to just find her and begin living with her. Neither did he want the woman to discover the man and OFFER HERSELF TO HIM. God knew that it was important and imperative that He personally GAVE THE WOMAN OUT IN MARRIAGE TO THE MAN. This is the Order or Pattern of God for Marriages.

In 2005, a Servant of God told me of his experience in a certain church where he’d ministered to Married Couples. At a point in the course of his ministration, he asked the “Wives”. “If you know that your husband has met your parents and fulfilled all the traditional formalities and ceremonies for marrying a Wife, and your parents fully GAVE YOU TO HIM as Wife, raise up your right hand.” To the dismay of the Preacher, the wives who raised up their hands were less than half of the number of wives in the meeting. In other words, most of the women either offered themselves to the men whom they were now  cohabitating with or the men grabbed them and started living with them without the thoughts of giving the parents the honour of seeking their daughter’s hand in marriage and being given a Wife formally after going through all the necessary processes.

My dear male readers, it may hurt you to hear this but I am under obligation to tell you: IF YOU’RE LIVING WITH A WOMAN WITHOUT HER FORMAL RELEASE TO YOU AFTER PAYING HER DOWRY, YOU ARE BOTH LIVING IN SIN. WHAT YOU HAVE ISN’T A MARRIAGE BUT LIVING IN FORNICATION CONTINUALLY. AND THAT’S DANGEROUS TO YOUR SOUL SPIRITUALLY.

Today, many are in churches without having married properly. Some are even in ministry and yet the woman they’re living with and whom the members of their ministry all adulate and call “Mummy” or  “Woman Of God” isn’t even a Wife yet but a mere Cohabitor!

If you’re living with a man or woman without having fulfilled all the normal rites of marriage, then you need to rise up and do the needful!
