WHEN GOD PROPOSED TO make a HELPER for Man in Genesis 2:18, what He set out to do was to give Man a “Multipurpose Companion”; an ALL-ROUND SUITABLE COMPANION, that would serve on all the diverse levels of Male-Female relationship. This makes every Wife much more than a mere housewife. She is her husband’s Girlfriend, Mistress, Sugar Baby, Sugar Mummy, Sugar Lady,
Concubine, Tea Girl, and much, much more. And what is her husband to her? He is her Boyfriend, Sugar Daddy, Gigolo, Man Friend, Lover, etc, etc.
Several years ago, I ran into a woman who had lost her husband some months earlier. I was stunned to see her looking so spectacularly beautiful, radiant and even alluring! My thoughts were like: “You mean this woman is this beautiful and she never showed it while her husband was alive?”
The mistake of many Spouses is poor self packaging and wrong self-identity. That you have children doesn’t mean that you must always be attired in traditional garbs. And I’m not advocating cross gender dressing either. Dress often in wears that would stir your spouse to want to touch you, embrace you and hug you tightly.
Dear Spouses, your first CALLING and your first IDENTITY in marriage is that of LOVERS. Don’t bury that primary Identity under secondary identities such as Father, Mother, Parent, Inlaw, Neighbour, etc. You are first and foremost ROMANTIC LOVERS AND SEX PARTNERS. Let these first and fundamental Identities occupy your mind and you’ll find yourself behaving as a LOVER for “as a man thinketh, so he is”!
When you look at the couple in the Songs of Solomon, which is the Bible’s only book on romantic love, you’ll see that their relationship is dominated by Romantic Love and they are LOVERS AND FRIENDS. Please, here’s the full verse from which our anchor scripture is taken:
“His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. THIS IS MY BELOVED, AND THIS IS MY FRIEND, O daughters of Jerusalem”(Songs 5:16) So you see, your Beloved is also your FRIEND AND SWEETHEART.
Lovebirds, Lovers or Sweethearts(which ever you prefer to call married couples)have constant Trademarks and they are: Attractiveness and Amorousness.
Important as the children are yet it’s imperative for the Wife to understand that she’s not One Flesh with them but with her husband and she mustn’t replace him with them in her affection; which is the costly mistake of many wives.
And Husband, don’t be deceived. There’s no woman anywhere that’s better than your Wife. Don’t be misled by outward appearances. All that glitter isn’t Gold. If you’re not pleased with your wife in anyway, call her into the bedroom and tell her and she’ll work on herself. That’s better than to go down into the tunnel of extramarital affairs from which many who ventured have not returned, just as the Scripture testifies:
“For her house inclineth unto death and her paths unto the dead. NONE THAT GO UNTO HER RETURN AGAIN, neither take they hold of the paths of life.”(Proverbs 2:18-19)
