NO MATTER HOW INTENSE your Love for each other as a couple, it will not insulate or shield you from the vicissitudes of Life.

On God’s earth, every good and godly thing will His arch enemy, Satan, seek to steal, kill or destroy. But one thing is certain, however, and it’s this: Your Love for one another will give you the strength to hold on to each other and to stand through the blizzards!

Just this morning, I took another look at the well-known story of a rich Couple who were brutally hit by the cruel and negative forces of life but stood strong in their Marriage and in their walk with God.

Horatio and Anna Spafford were a rich Chicago couple. They weren’t only rich but a truly godly pair who loved and served God. Infact, they were prominent supporters and close friends of the famous D.L.Moody.

In 1870, their only son caught Scarlet fever and died! And as if that wasn’t bad enough, their vast real estate investment was completely wiped out by the great Chicago fires of 1871!

In view of the devastating tragedies, Horatio Spafford thought it wise for the family to go abroad on a vacation, so they could take a break from all the sad events. He would have gone with his wife and their four kids but had to stay back due to a sudden but important business call.

The family went ahead of him on the luxurious French ship, Ville du Havere, only to meet another tragedy at Sea… and all their four daughters drowned! The wife survived alone, only by the mysterious providence of God!

What did they do? Got angry and bitter at God? No! They clung to each other in Love and continued to serve the God Who gave them all they’d lost. They refused to let the tragedies they’d been through make them doubt God and His Word. Instead,
these harsh and bitter experiences inspired Horatio Spafford to write the great Hymn: IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL. This Song is truly anointed and has been a channel of hope and encouragement to multiplied millions.

Is your Marriage going through what seems like an endless season of trials? Don’t let what’s happening move you into murmuring or getting bitter against God. Hold on to God and to each other. As our anchor scripture discloses, God sends His help AFTER the enemy has spent his dark fury in doing his worst so you’d fall and be a laughing stock. God may not prevent the attack but He’ll surely send His help and that HELP will lift you higher than where you used to be. That’s what He did for Job and many others. Just stand faithful and true to Him and He’ll do the same for you.

Tonight, give thanks to God for your trials, troubles, travails and temptations.

If you’ve been angry and murmuring against God, REPENT and ask Him to forgive you and He will.

Pledge your Love and Allegiance to God anew. Worship and bless His name and tell Him you’ll never, NEVER turn your back on Him.
