EVERY HUMAN BEING HAS HIS OR HER natural bodily smell and this smell is God-given and good.
However, there must be daily proper care of the body for it’s smell to remain positive all day long.
In our anchor scripture for today, the Patriarch Isaac, now blind, smelled the dress of Esau which was worn by Jacob and the natural bodily smell of Esau which was in the dress delighted him! The old man loved the smell of his son and so should spouses love the natural bodily smell of one another.
Every dish has it’s known smell or better put aroma. When there’s freshly cooked stew in the kitchen everyone knows, including the little children. When Mom bakes cake or bread in the kitchen the aroma is different from that of stew. However, both the stew and the baked things need to be properly maintained otherwise their taste and smell will go bad. When the stew goes sour the smell becomes undesirable and when the baked things become mucoid the same happens: they smell awful and you quickly throw them away. This means that lack of proper maintenance will negatively alter a good smell or aroma. Therefore, spouses need to take good care of their bodies so their natural bodily smells doesn’t begin to stink. To this end, Spouses need to each observe the following:
1. Have a thorough bathe at least once everyday. Note the word THOROUGH. This is because some Spouses are almost always in a hurry in the bathroom. They believe in “Summary Bathe”, “Sharp-Sharp Bathe” or “Economic Bathe”. Once they’ve lightly rubbed sponge and soap on their armpits, face, and groin, they’re fleeing out of the bathroom, as if pursued by some fiend. Some of these approaches to bathing probably augured well for you in your Secondary School days but they can’t be good for you in marriage. Your spouse needs and deserves a squeaky clean partner to touch, feel, smell and kiss without having to quickly run to the bathroom to spit or worse still vomit; because they find you so nauseating!
2. Apart from your entire skin(body) that needs to be thoroughly bathed daily, your mouth needs to be thoroughly taken care of with a good toothbrush and toothpaste. Beside your morning mouthwash, it’s also important to re-brush after your Siesta.
In some marriages one partner insists on the so-called bingo or doggy style because they hate being face to face with their Mate since the Mate has a bad mouth odour and bad breathe. Faithfully observing good oral hygiene everyday will take care of this.
3. Another area to take care is your head. Sometime in the 1980s was in a place where a female medical student was having her plaited hair loosed and the smell of the hair was simply bad! She probably kept the hair for longer than it was meant stay. Or she wasn’t using some fragrant hair oil to freshen the hair daily. Which ever the case, spouses both male and female need to see to it that their hair doesn’t smell. Your Barber or hairdresser could advise you on the brand of hair oil or cream that could help make your head fragrant and desirable to your mate.
4. Spouses need to watch against using inner wears like panties, boxers, singlets and inner skirts for too long. You know happens when you do so: they make you smell even though you had a good bathe.
5. During every bathe give special attention to your marriage parts which people also call private part. Wash it well with sponge and soap. Wives should give the outer parts of their marriage parts which are known as the Vulva a good wash every day.
6. Some products are MUSTS for you as Lovebirds and Married Lovers. The product is Perfumes.
After I got born again, I assumed that the use of scents and perfumes was unchristian. Thank God I didn’t walk in that belief for too long. Sir/Ma, God created the things that Apothecaries use to make scents and perfumes. What God made belongs to His children to use. Of course, the use of perfumes should not be a cover-up for not bathing. No!
Perfumes are yours to use in enhancing your smell. It’s to enhance your appearance and outlook. It will attract your spouse to want to touch you. Read this scripture:
“ALL THY GARMENTS SMELL OF MYRRH, AND ALOES, AND CASSIA, out of the ivory palaces, WHEREBY THEY HAVE MADE THEE GLAD.”(Psalms 45:8) If fragrances were used on clothes in bible times then there’s nothing wrong in using good perfumes on your clothing so you would be fragrant to your husband or wife at all times; making both of you Glad!
