ONENESS WITH GOD is equivalent to intimacy with God or closeness to Him.

When as couple you and your spouse are close to God, you make Him not just a part of your marriage but the very Center of it and the One around Whom it revolves. Many people are married but don’t want God in their union. Infact, they don’t see their need for Him in their relationship.

Growing up as a young boy in the 1970s, one of the things I saw in several homes in those days was a framed plaque with this writing:

“CHRIST IS THE HEAD OF THIS HOUSE,
THE UNSEEN GUEST AT EVERY MEAL,
THE SILENT LISTENER TO EVERY CONVERSATION”. Of course, not all the couples that displayed it were God-fearing but several were.

When you sincerely make Christ the Head of your home and marriage, one of the many things your union will enjoy is divine leadings and revelations. As we saw in the yesterday’s devotional piece, God gave Elijah the man who was intimate with Him divine direction that kept him perfectly hidden from King Ahab and Jezebel even though he was right in the same country with them. When you and your spouse walk closely with God, He’ll give you divine directions that will make a fool of your enemies.

Joseph and Mary were close to God and you know how God gave them divine direction through a revelation and they were able to escape to Egypt with Baby Jesus, frustrating the wicked plot of Herod to kill the Holy Child.

Our anchor scripture shows us that one could be heavily religious and yet perfectly distant from God. We are as close or distant from God as the position of hearts towards him. If your heart is close to God, it will also be close to His Word and you’ll gladly live your married life according to it’s holy dictates.

It’s not enough to be married. It’s important that as a Couple, you walk closely with God daily. Abraham walked closely with God and God intimated him on the imminent destruction that was coming upon Sodom, where his brother Lot dwelt. With that divine information, Abraham prayed and Lot was delivered before destruction fell upon Sodom and Gomorrah and all wicked cities of the plain.

Soon after my wife took in our first pregnancy, she had a dream in which a malevolent entity holding a long staff appeared to her, challenging and threatening her. She told me and I knew instantly that an attack was being launched on the new pregnancy. I went into prayer and the pregnancy continued to grow.
Some months later, there was another dream. This time, I was the dreamer. In that dream, my wife had given birth to a baby boy. And as she was holding the baby and going somewhere, dogs emerged to snatch the child and I suddenly appeared from no where launching a ferocious attack on the pack of dogs and they fled! I immediately woke up, tapped my wife who was sleeping beside me and told her the dream. We both knew that God was exposing to us the plot of the enemy. We instantly rose up, joined hands and prayed earnestly.
When the expected date of delivery came, she gave birth to a baby boy just as was revealed to us through the last dream related above.

Married Couples, we live in a world of enemies and adversaries and if you indeed desire your marriage to be victorious continually,
then get close to God.

The first step to take towards getting close to God and becoming one with Him is to receive His Son Jesus Christ into your life. If you’re willing to do so, then soberly pray the following Prayer with all your heart:

LORD JESUS, I AM A SINNER. HAVE MERCY UPON ME. I WANT TO BE SAVED. PLEASE, SAVE ME FROM MY SINS AND TRANSGRESSIONS.
MAKE ME YOUR CHILD.
I OPEN MY HEART TO YOU, LORD JESUS. COME INTO MY HEART AND DWELL IN ME. I CONFESS THAT YOU ARE LORD. AND I BELIEVE THAT YOU DIED AND ROSE FROM THE DEAD ON THE THIRD DAY.
THANK YOU LORD JESUS FOR SAVING ME. AMEN!
