LIFE IS DIVIDED INTO PHASES. It’s important you know that none of the phases repeats itself.

When you are in your “Marriage Phase”, be wise! Diligently make the most of it. Don’t for a moment assume that you’ll always have your Spouse with you. “Make hay while the Sun shines” is an English saying that’s very true. It’s telling you to seize opportunities and use them to your advantage. So now that you’re married, enjoy each other to the fullest each day while your matrimony lasts. Instead of wasting time on finding fault with each other, spend the time discovering the beautiful and amorous things in each other that you haven’t yet enjoyed and explore them for your mutual delight and benefit.

Be informed of the fact that your marriage is timed. Oh, you thought it would last and last? No, please ! There’s a time allotment to each Marriage. While some will last 50, 60, 40, 20 years there are those that will last 3, 5,10, 15 years before the Sunset of Death comes upon them. The time allotment varies from couple to couple. Yes, there’s a time limit on your union. So, stop wasting your precious “marital time capital” in chasing shadows.

When you spend an entire week keeping malice with your mate and refuse to talk to them because you feel too offended to let go and allow peace to reign, you’re not only hurting your own health, you’re wasting the opportunities of receiving and giving love, affection romance and kindness for that precious period of time. And for sure, those lost marital blessings will never come back.

I remember counseling a very elderly man whose wife refused to have sexual relations with him for ten years. Ten long years! Later I heard of another Christian Brother whose wife refused him sexual intimacy for 14 long years! The hard hearted people who do such things simply cut a whole chunk of their Marriage’s lifespan away, wasting all the goodness they and their Partner would have enjoyed all because they felt angry or displeased. That’s small mindedness.

Long ago, there was a graffiti I saw a number of times. It read: MAKE LOVE, NOT WAR. May sound crass but makes a lot of sense, nonetheless. Just think of what it costs to make War. Think of the war between Ukraine and Russia. Billions of dollars! But what does it take to make love with your spouse in Marriage? Mutual consent, that’s all. So it’s a lot more expensive to be at each other’s throat than to walk in love with one another.

If you forget everything you’ve read in this devotional piece don’t forget the fact that your marriage is timed. And somehow, you have no idea when the Sunset of Death will come over it, taking you or your spouse away

So, stop wasting your precious “marital time capital”. Use it to make each other smile and to make one another happy.

Wife quit complaining of how your husband isn’t romantic. Enjoy him as he is while you’re trusting that he’ll one day become the romantic Romeo that you desire. Husband stop complaining about your wife’s domestic inadequacies. Open your mouth and admire her beauty, her lovely shape, hairstyle, silky skin and dentition. Get your fingers on your lady… and let her feel your Love. Marriage is not an exam on how good a Chef your wife is. Marriage is a love world. Marriage is a Love Affair. Let living out these definitions be your daily pursuit and not screening each other’s performance credentials.
