DAVID LIVED a towering spiritual life and was in his times and era what Joseph was in the Book of Genesis: an icon of purity.
Unarguably, there was no one as profoundly spiritual as King David of all the men of his generation. Nobody spearheaded the cause of God in his times like King David. At the risk of his young life he took on Goliath and slung him down within minutes. He fought great wars and from those battles offered up to God loads of precious spoils of war he could have amassed for himself and his unborn children.
He desired to build God a temple and zealously offered to do so, but when God turned down his offer he poured himself into preparing the materials for the magnificent and most peculiar edifice that his son King Solomon later built.
In all of Scripture only two persons confessed to be HOLY, the first being God Himself and the second being King David (Psalm 86:2)! Reading through Psalm 119 easily attests to his claim. And long after David was dead, God confirmed that confession by declaring that David was impeccably obedient to Him all throughout his lifetime except in the matter of Uriah! (1 Kings 15:5).
In all of Scripture, only two men killed a lion in their life time. David was one of them. The other was Samson. Only one man killed a Bear with bare hands: David. Only one man confronted a Warrior-Giant with A SLING and successfully killed him: DAVID.
But his INDISCIPLINE WITH HIS EYES just one evening has done him incalculable damage that linger till this day, teaching and warning us all about the grave dangers that come with LUST.
LUST IS MORE DEADLY THAN A LION, A BEAR AND A GIANT COMBINED!
“Dearly Beloved,I beseech you as Strangers and Pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, WHICH WAR AGAINST THE SOIL”(1 Pet.2:11)
If a towering spiritual giant and a married man like David could fall into great sins as a result of looking at a naked Woman, then it means that married couples of this age that’s filled with Pornography, Slay Queens, Bum-Shorts, Distressed Jeans, Semi-Nudity in Churches, etc must tread with great caution.
And married couples should cleave to each other every moment; be open to one another; and make optimum use of sexual intimacy in their marriage. Sex isn’t for storage but for usage to prevent immorality (1 Corinthians 7:2)
Confide in your Mate whenever you’re getting tempted to be unfaithful. Yes, spill it out! You’re better off fighting the enemy together than fighting silently alone.
