MARRIAGE IS LIKE THE HUMAN BODY. In Marriage, the Husband is the HEAD while the Wife is the BODY.
Understanding how the HEAD and the BODY relate will aid you in living harmoniously with your Spouse.
The HEAD and the BODY have been designed by God to live closely together AND TO DEPEND ON ONE ANOTHER
The Head has the Brain, the Eyes, the Nose, Ears and the Mouth.The Head is the Image and Identity of the Body.
Now, let’s look at Body. It has the Heart, the Stomach and the Digestive systems; as well as the Sexual Organs, the Arms, Legs, the Excretory system, etc.
But note that as important as the Head is, it cannot bathe itself, comb it’s hair, put food in it’s mouth, etc. It depends on the Body for all these and so much more!
But the Body can’t eat, drink, talk, hear or see by itself! The Head does all that and much more for it.
Note that, no matter, where the Head has planned to go at any given time, once the Body gives the Head a signal that it wants to visit the Restroom, the Head quickly submits. The Head follows the Body to the Restroom and dare not complain but stays there dutifully until the Body is satisfied that it could come out and then the head dutifully follows. This shows that between the Head and the Body, none is superior or more important than the other.
The Head and the Body willingly practice mutual submission everyday. Why? Because they recognize the office of each other, accord each other due respect, and submit to each other’s command as that is necessary for the common good of the Head and the Body! This is how it should be in your Marriage!
Husband, you’re indeed the Head but you’re not to thwart the genuine aspirations of your wife. You’re there to be supportive and to encourage her to fulfill her dreams. Wife, you’re very important and occupy a distinct Office all your own. Yet, it’s important you recognize the Office of your Husband as Head of your Marriage. Don’t be like Jezebel who dominated her Husband and reduced him from King to puppet and made him a disgrace to manhood. Stand by your Man and help him to fulfill his God given destiny.
Just as the Head and the Body are not in competition but in harmony, each complementing the other, so should it be between Husband and Wife.
Submit to one another as often as it’s necessary. It’s Righteousness, Wisdom and Maturity!!
