I ONCE RODE IN A NEWLY ACQUIRED JALOPY WITH A COUPLE. All of a sudden and just when it wasn’t expected to stop, it froze in the middle of the road to the embarrassment of the owners who were giving me a ride after a visit to their home. What to do? The husband and I had to come down and push it to a safe spot.
The question is: how do once strong and sturdy cars become weak and laughable jalopies? Reasons are several and they include: carelessness in maintainance, reckless and abusive usage, etc.
The same attitude that turn a good car into a jalopy can also turn a promising marriage into a “decrepit, rickety and wobbly” union! But this needn’t be. You can daily give your marriage high maintainance that will keep it tops!
In our anchor scripture, we find a newly saved lady who came to Christ and demonstrated an exceptional approach of expressing her LOVE. It’s obvious that she must have sat down, thought deeply and used her imagination to arrived at how to show her love and appreciation to Christ in a unique way. She bought a very precious and costly ointment that was highly fragrant. She knelt down at Jesus’ feet. She shed tears of love on his feet, washing them with those tears and wiping the feet with the very hair of her head! This is an unusual, striking and extraordinary demonstration of Love! Just think of it! Do you remember that when Jesus rose from the dead, it was this woman, Mary Magdalene, that He first manifested Himself to?
Even Christ Himself walks in extraordinary kind of Love. We see one instance of this in His washing the feet of his twelve disciples and wiping them with the towel on his waist!
Sit down and think of exceptional ways to demonstrate your love to your Spouse. Such demonstrations of love, done from time to time, will renew and strengthen your love for each other again and again, keeping your marriage strong and young!
