LIVING A BALANCED AND REFRESHING LIFE IN MARRIAGE

Scripture:
‘A time to weep, AND A TIME TO LAUGH; a time to mourn, AND A TIME TO DANCE’
(ECCLESIASTES 3: 4)

DEAR SPOUSES, IT’S TRUE THAT AS MATURED and responsible adults, parents and grandparents, we have so much to do on daily basis. However, it’s of uttermost importance that we take our cue for living from the One that made us and gave us Life. Unarguably, He is the greatest workaholic ever. He created this big wide world in six short days. And at the end of His creative work, He was neither weak, tired nor weary. But here’s something important for us all to learn: even though He is the ageless and tireless One, He still chose to rest on the seventh day! Why? Because there’s the right time for everything!

Today, very many Spouses are weak, tired and aging faster than they should, all because they don’t take time off to rest and unwind! No matter our ambition and drive, the fact remains that our bodies aren’t machines. Even machines need routine maintainance to keep functioning. Thank God for your wonderful career goals but don’t let the pursuit of those goals turn you into a wreck! Let’s all learn from the greatest Worker ever: Jehovah our God. His taking a break from work on the seventh day is a very loud message to all Spouses. The message is: take a break from time to time to REST REFRESH AND BE RENEWED. This is extremely important.

We also need to note that God didn’t wait until He had worked for a year before resting. No. In His divine wisdom, He counted it appropriate to take a break after six days. We should walk in His footsteps. Don’t wait until you’re almost dying from prolonged stress and extreme exhaustion before you opt for rest. It’s foolishness to do so.

As our anchor scripture rightly tells us, there’s a time for everything. There’s a time to laugh and a time to dance! Recognize those times and make the necessary activity switch.

To enjoy a robust, strong, consistently happy and exciting marriage, you must create room for these two beautiful gifts (laughter and dance) in your marriage from time to time. Declare some nights LAUGHTER AND DANCE NIGHTS. Those nights are for just the two of you. On those nights, lock your bedroom door, have some special foods and drinks available to feast on and have

a wonderful time together. Reminisce on your marital journey thus far and you’ll definitely remember incidents that’ll get you laughing hilariously like you have no care in the world. Yes, get some anointed music playing on repeat mode and take the floor and dance together until you’re both aglow with joy and wet with perspiration.

Yes, it’s true that you’ve still got the kid’s school fees to pay, your rents to settle and other serious obligations crying for your attention. And so what? Have your good time together with the confidence that God is well aware of your needs and will meet them as the good and loving Heavenly Father that He is.

And He will! He has provided for you all these many years, it’s not now that He’ll fail.

πŸ·πŸ— TAKE-HOME LESSON: ONCE IN A WHILE, TAKE A BREAK AND HAVE A GOOD TIME TOGETHER. REJOICE, LAUGH AND DANCE FOR LOVE!
