IN APOSTLE PETER’S FIRST EPISTLE, MAMA SARAH is set forth as the shining model for all Christian women and wives. She’s referred to as the Mother of all Christian women:

“EVEN AS SARAH OBEYED ABRAHAM, CALLING HIM LORD: WHOSE DAUGHTERS YE ARE”(1 Peter 3: 6a)

In our anchor scripture, godly women are exhorted to look up to her; in other words they should emulate her.

Therefore, as a Christian wife and woman, you have so much to learn from Mama Sarah. Today, you’re going to learn some important things from her about OUTWARD APPEARANCE AND BEAUTY.

At the time Mama Sarah came into Canaan land with her husband, Father Abraham, SHE WAS 65 YEARS OLD. Yet she didn’t see her beauty as something she should discard because of her age or because of her new life of pilgrimage. 

She understood it to be an intrinsic part of her life as a woman. She knew that her husband would need it; and that it constituted no harm or distraction to her new spiritual life.

So, she seriously took care of herself, loved her husband and followed God with all her heart.

Even though she lived in the midsts of chronic unbelievers, whose womenfolk no doubt had several ungodly and artificial methods of beauty treatment, she never used any of their cosmetic enhancers (Psalm 1:1).

Mama Sarah’s beauty was natural and based on nourishing and nurturing her body; and dressing in the attires of her gender.

Is it any wonder that Father Abraham told her: “THOU ART A FAIR WOMAN TO LOOK UPON”(Gen. 12:11)?

When she and her husband fled to Egypt during a famine, the Egyptians, didn’t see her as just fair. To them, she was VERY FAIR!(Gen.12:11) and the news of her beauty spread across the capital city of Egypt like wild fire. As a result, the President of Egypt (Pharaoh) commanded her to be brought to the Presidential Villa! Now, how old was Mama Sarah at this time? She was 75 years old! Yet, she was so stunningly beautiful, strikingly attractive and irresistibly alluring; so much so that the King of Egypt wanted to marry her! Please, isn’t this food for thought? A woman of 75 looking like a young and delectable bride!

At another time, WHEN SHE WAS MORE THAN 75 YEARS OLD, perhaps 80 years old; she was snatched by yet another mighty potentate, King Abimelech. All on account of her great beauty! As she grew older, her beauty remained intact because she continually took good care of herself.

Dear Wife, if Mama Sarah kept, maintained and nourished her beauty all throughout her life as a woman and wife, it shows that there never will come a time that you should think of RETIREMENT FROM BEAUTY. Why? Because God needs you looking clean, good and beautiful because it gives Him pleasure (Revelation 4:11).

Secondly, your husband needs you always looking sweet, sultry and fragrant? Why? Because they renew and reinforce his love, passion and affection for you. They make you magnetic to your husband: drawing him to you again and again and again and again…

As a married Christian woman, please walk in the footsteps of Mama Sarah, your spiritual Mother. Learn these lessons from her:

1)SHE WAS A WISE WIFE WHO DID NOT THROW AWAY HER BEAUTY

Mama Sarah didn’t see any need to throw away her beauty at the age of 65, 75, 80 and above. Beauty is a gift and talent from God, given to you; especially for the sake of your Marriage. Don’t throw yours away because you’ve clocked 40.

2) HER OUTWARD BEAUTY WAS BACKED BY INNER BEAUTY.

“For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.”(1 Peter 3:5-6)

Note the two things that projected Mama Sarah’s beauty, according to these verses: HOLY CHARACTER AND HOLY ADORNMENT. For her, submission to her husband was sacrosanct. So also was the strict use of godly attires. Unholy things like false eyelashes, artificial fingernails had no place with her. She was happy and contented with how God created her. There was no need for breast enlargement surgery, tummy-tuck or buttocks augmentation. She was always super-clean and happily natural.

She walked in righteousness day and night and RIGHTEOUSNESS EXALTED HER BEAUTY SUCH THAT WHEN GREAT KINGS SAW HER, THEIR QUEENS STOOD PALE IN COMPARISON! THAT’S WHY THEY ALWAYS GAZED AT HER WITH GREAT DESIRE.

🍷🍗 TAKE-HOME LESSON: AS A GODLY MARRIED WOMAN, YOU DON’T RETIRE FROM BEAUTY AND BODY MAINTAINANCE. EXUDE HOLY AND GODLY BEAUTY ALWAYS. GOD NEEDS IT AND YOUR HUSBAND NEEDS IT.
