LOVEBIRDS' DEVOTIONAL

Enriching Matrimonies

THE MARITAL PROCASTINATOR

Scripture:
‘2 I sleep, but my heart is awake; It is the voice of my beloved! He knocks, saying, “Open for me, my sister, my love, My dove, my perfect one; For my head is covered with dew, My locks with the drops of the night.” 3 I have taken off my robe; How can I put it on again? I have washed my feet; How can I defile them? 4 My beloved put his hand By the latch of the door, And my heart yearned for him. 5 I arose to open for my beloved, And my hands dripped with myrrh, My fingers with liquid myrrh, On the handles of the lock. 6 I opened for my beloved, But my beloved had turned away and was gone. My heart leaped up when he spoke. I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer. 7 The watchmen who went about the city found me. They struck me, they wounded me; The keepers of the walls Took my veil away from me. (NKJV)’
(SONG OF SOLOMON 5:2-7)

IN OUR ANCHOR PASSAGE FOR TODAY, is an interesting incident. A lady’s espoused lover came to her house in the night. He called out politely to his lady with affectionate words asking her to let him in.

Instead of hastening to open the door and bring him out of the cold into the warmth of her house, she was busy considering how she had already undressed, washed her feet and the beauty treatment she was wearing. In any case, by the time she finally got to the door and opened it, her man was already gone. He was probably very angry at her unreasonable delay and concluded that she didn’t want him under her roof.

Spouses, please listen. The MARRIAGE COVENANT makes a demand on you to LOVE YOUR SPOUSE AND TO DO SO QUICKLY! Don’t procrastinate ! To procrastinate is delay to do what you are supposed to do.

As we can see in our anchor Bible passage, the Lady who dilly-dallied to open the door for her Beloved Spouse didn’t escape punishment. She suffered for her delay to act at the right time.

When she opened the door and didn’t see her man, she went out into the streets in search of him; very likely because her heart was troubled by guilt. Unfortunately, she ran into the security operatives of the city who beat her and seized her veil! They probably suspected to be a promiscuous woman.

Just as this woman’s Lover angrily walked away, BECAUSE OF HER DELAY, many husbands and wives have also walked away from their procrastinating Spouses because of delay to give romance, delay to cook meals on time, delay to consent for sexual intimacy, etc. Such delays have led to many grave and tragic consequences.

Dear Spouses, recognize the fact that whatever you have was given to you by God (1 Corinthians 4:7) and whenever your Spouse needs any of them, don’t delay to give it to them. Freely you have received; FREELY AND QUICKLY GIVE! When you make it a habit to first delay before giving, your Mate may not punish you, but you might one day meet “some security operatives” on the streets of life who will beat you and take your Veil or your Cap, so that you’ll learn a lasting lesson. In the jungle world of animals, it’s even worse: You’ll be served jungle justice, as the next paragraph shows.

When Lionesses are in heat, they want so much Sex. They could copulate with their male Partner for between twenty and forty times in on day! One very interesting thing about this is that: it’s the Lionesses that initiate the love making and ensure it’s continuity. If the male gets to a point where it doesn’t want anymore of the “festival of intimacy”, the Lioness wouldn’t let it go. She would bite him in the scrotum to demand for the “celebration” to continue.

Thank God that in Marriage, your Wife won’t bite you in the scrotum and your husband will not bite on the breast either. However, be a cheerful and quick giver so that no “security officers” would beat you in the streets of life and seize your veil or your cap as a mark of divine retribution!

🍷🍗 TAKE-HOME LESSON: DON’T BE A PROCRASTINATOR IN YOUR MARRIAGE. GIVE YOUR SPOUSE WHATEVER THEY NEED FROM YOU WITHOUT DILLY-DALLYING.

ENOUGH OF USING DELAY TACTICS!!!
