OUR ANCHOR SCRIPTURES FOR TODAY PRESENT an account of the grim and heartbreaking misfortune that befell David and his men. They returned from the battlefield only to find their homes razed down by fire and their families taken away to only God knows where.
So great was their pain and misery that they all wept until they were exhausted. And then, David’s 600 men suddenly turned against him and wanted to stone him; because they felt he was the architect of their misfortune. Does this sound like where you are now as a couple? Has everything and everyone suddenly turned against you and your Spouse? Have you both wept and wept until you’re worn and weary and are even confused; not knowing what to do or where to turn?
Dearly Beloved Spouses, please listen.
All is not lost! Yes. Cheer up, because there’s HOPE. Since God is on His Throne, you will come out of these troubles victorious.
It would interest you to know how David came out of the mess in which he found himself. Here’s how he overcame:
“BUT DAVID ENCOURAGED HIMSELF IN THE LORD HIS GOD” (1 Sam. 30: 6c) David realized that crying further was useless. HE TURNED FROM WEEPING AND SWITCHED ON HIS FAITH IN GOD.
He recalled the mighty acts of GOD in his life in the past: his killing of the Lion, the Bear and Goliath of Gath and took courage in God’s ever sufficient power to save.
From the simple act of encouraging himself in God, David found strength to proceed into PRAYER (1 Sam.30:7-8). And God answered him swiftly; giving him both guidance and assurance of VICTORY!
David pursued the Raiders who had attacked his camp, defeated them and recovered his family and those of his 600 men! Indeed, everything the Raiders took were recoverd by David and his men.
Beloved Spouses, know assuredly that whatever has been stolen from your home or Marriage, can be fully restore by GOD.
Wipe your tears. GET ON YOUR KNEES AND PRAY TO GOD. He is gracious and will show you mercy. Here’s one of His unfailing promises:
“AND CALL UPON ME IN THE DAY OF TROUBLE: I WILL DELIVER THEE, AND THOU SHALT GLORIFY ME” (Psalm 50:15). Call upon Him and He will SURELY DELIVER YOU.
