TODAY’S ANCHOR SCRIPTURES PRESENT the account of how Samson took his revenge on the Philistines for the loss of his two eyes.
In the thinking of the Philistines, Samson had been “downsized” and tamed. But how so wrong they were! In Samson’s heart was a mighty and thunderous volcano of fury waiting to erupt. All he needed was THE GAP BETWEEN THE TWO MAJOR PILLARS OF THE AMPHITHEATER. Once the lad that led him helped him to grasp them, Samson prayed his last prayer and pulled down the mighty edifice upon the five Lords of the Philistines who plotted his downfall and thousands of others who were laughing at him in his misery. Great multitudes perished in that last demonstration of God’s gift of POWER in Samson’s life.
Spouses, do you know that you are the Pillars of your marriage, family, home and your own generation?
God’s command for you to CLEAVE to each other isn’t meant to inconvenience you but to help you stay victorious against the devil who seeks to put you asunder.
Cleaving to your mate mustn’t depend on your feelings and mood. It mustn’t depend on whether you’re happy with your Mate or otherwise. Cleave to each other because there’s an enemy who’s watching and waiting for the moment you’d let go your Partner so he’ll sneak in-between you to pull down your marriage, home and family.
No matter how upset or offended you may be, NEVER make the mistake of letting go of your Spouse! Many who did so have lived to regret it.
A fellow Minister of the Gospel once shared with me of two Pastors known to him who went aside for Sex outside their marriages because they were angry for being denied it by their wives, only to get infected with the dreaded HIV/AIDS and die miserably. In that brief time of discord when they were no more cleaving to their wives, the devil , probably told each of them: “Just go outside and do it. After all, God will forgive you. God Himself knows how your wife has been tormenting you sexually.”
No matter the misunderstanding you have with your husband or wife, ensure that you resolve it before sundown.
“26 BE YE ANGRY, AND SIN NOT: LET NOT THE SUN GO DOWN UPON YOUR WRATH:
27 NEITHER GIVE PLACE TO THE DEVIL.” (Ephesians 4:26-27)
The two verses above present three commands.
A) Never let your Anger degenerate to sin. Meaning: even though you’re offended, hold yourself in check and ensure you don’t put up any sinful conduct.
B) No matter how offended or hurt you feel, ensure you and Mate resolve the matter before sunset.
C) Don’t allow any GAP between you and your spouse. All the devil needs is the tiniest gap. Don’t give it to him!!!
Cleave very firmly to each other always. Cleaving is NOT optional in marriage. It’s Matrimony’s very bedrock.
