ON THE DAY JOB AND HIS WIFE were joined in marriage, they never envisaged a time when a great trial of their Faith would come. For many years, they lived in good health, financial abundance and overflowing wealth; but the day came that their faith in God was tested. We all know the story. They lost everything including Job’s health. Thankfully, Job was faithful to God and came out victorious!
On the day the parents of the crippled man that was healed at the Beautiful Gate by Apostle Peter and John got married, they never imagined giving birth to a crippled baby who would grow up to become a Beggar but it happened to them. But one day, God wiped their tears by healing that precious Son!
Marriage is beautiful and glorious, yet it is not a life in some utopian paradise. You and your Spouse live in a world of trials and temptations; and since you live here, you can’t escape tribulations. When you find yourself and your Beloved faced with harsh trials, you will do well to give attention to our anchor scriptures for today.
Our anchor scriptures command us to have the right attitude in the time of trials. They teach us to respond to our trials with JOY. Even though that’s quite unlike what we’re used to, yet that attitude is the pathway to Altitude of Triumph. It’s the best way to respond in the face of trials.
When Job lost all his children and wealth in one day, he triumphed over the attack by a positive response. How? HE WORSHIPPED GOD IN WHOLEHEARTED GRATITUDE AND ADORATION.
Our anchor scriptures teach us that there is a divine reason and purpose for our trials. They come to grow the virtue of divine patience in us. God wants to use them to move you upwards into the spiritual realm of PERFECTION.
Abraham and Sarah were a godly couple yet God allowed them suffer barrenness for very many years. Thankfully, they didn’t allow the burden of that heavy trial make them grow bitter towards God. They didn’t let it disrupt their practice of godly marriage.
Isaac and Rebecca were a divinely paired couple. Yet when famine headed in the direction of Canaan land where they lived, God didn’t stop it for their sakes. It hit them hard like every other person and they had to relocate to the land of Gerar where God made them the richest couple in the nation!
Hannah loved and feared God yet she suffered barrenness whereas her mate who had no fear of God was fruitful and bearing children. In the face of her severe trial, Hannah didn’t murmur against God but gave herself to prayer; and God blessed her and made her the Mother of a great Prophet, Samuel the Prophet!
Are you and your family going through tough times right now? Don’t murmur, don’t grumble and don’t blame God.
There’s a Song that says:
“GOD LOVES A CHEERFUL GIVER; GIVE ALL YOU’VE GOT. HE LOVES TO HEAR YOU LAUGHING WHEN YOU’RE IN AN AWKWARD SPOT. WHEN THE ODDS ADD UP AGAINST YOU, IT’S TIME TO STOP AND SING. PRAISE GOD; TO PRAISE HIM IS A JOYOUS THING.”
When you’re in an awkward situation don’t cry. Rather open your mouth and have a good laugh at the devil. Why? Because he wants to see you sad and downcast. So, do the opposite. Laugh at him and then roar into songs of praise to God. Remember Paul and Silas in the Philipian Prison? They praised God in the midst of sore trials and God sent an Earthquake to set them free.
Count your trials as blessings in disguise because God’s Word says that all things work together for your good if you love God and are called by Him. (Romans 8:28)
