I ONCE VISITED A CLOSE FRIEND OF MINE who had newly built an imposing and monumental mansion in one of the choice quarters of the city. In answer to my surprised look, he said it was his wife: she was the brain behind that conspicuous edifice. Left to him, he confessed, he would have built something much smaller. She however nudged, encouraged, and inspired him to go for something better and bigger. Today, they live in a dream home that’s the envy of many!

The saying, “Behind every successful man is a woman”, is both an old and a true one. The power of a woman is, by far, more than her soft and gentle frame reveals.

In a home where the husband is unsaved and the wife a believer in Jesus Christ, the Bible reveals, that the godly wife’s conduct of submissiveness and chasteness, and the fear of God, can exert a strong and godly influence on her husband to the end that he also will repent of his sins and genuinely believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved (1 Peter 3:1-2).

As a wife, you are the closest human being to your husband and you have enormous power and opportunity of influence with him. You can use your influence to move him to please God and reap the glorious harvest thereof. Indeed, God expects you to use your power of influence to His glory.

The Bible tells us the story of Jezebel, the daughter of Ethbaal, who served Satan notably by the enormous amount of influence she exerted on Ahab, her husband:

“But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the Lord, WHOM JEZEBEL HIS WIFE STIRRED UP. And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as did the Amorites, whom the Lord cast out before the children of Israel” (1 Kings 22:25-26)

If Jezebel, a daughter of darkness succeeded so gallantly in influencing an Israelite King to serve the devil, how much more can you who is an anointed daughter of the Most High God!

You are not saved, justified, sanctified and filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues only to be on the same level with traditional and cultural women. No! Definitely not!!
You are carrying the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, to the end that you might be a new brand of womanhood. You can do so much more than cooking meals, washing dishes, earning an income, carrying pregnancies and nursing babies, though these are important. Jezebel did all these but went further. She singlehandedly turned the King of the land into an Amorite, the absolute opposite of an Israelite whom he was by birth. She turned the whole of the Northern Kingdom of Israel into a land of idolatry of horrifying proportions. She sought and laboured to stamp out of Israel completely, the worship of Jehovah God. To that end, she persecuted and killed the prophets of God. A woman like you!!!

Now, what was her secret? This: she was a Satanist; she was a spiritualist, a giant in the realm of darkness. You can also be a serious spiritual woman in Christ, whose burning prayer life and consistent holy living will both combine to provide a means of spiritual inspiration, motivation, elevation and transformation for your husband!!!

You can prayerfully, politely and wisely sit down with your husband and discuss how you can both, from time to time, invest a reasonable portion of your family wealth into the furtherance of the work of God at different levels; much like the woman of Shunem who humbly spoke to her husband about building a Guest House for Prophet Elisha.

You can like Abigail be the Intercessor, Mediator and Watchman to save your family and household from satanic plots and conspiracies; even when your husband isn’t aware of what’s going on. On your knees you can confront the adversaries of your husband, marriage, home and family.

Yes, you can like Rebecca get on your knees before God Almighty and be favoured by Him with deep secrets and mysteries about your family, your children, grandchildren and their future and destinies.

Perhaps, you were as a teenage girl taught that as a woman, you’re weak and all along you’ve believed this. Well, YOU ARE NOT WEAK!

The reference to wives in 1 Peter 3:7 as WEAKER vessels is a comparative term that’s saying that both husband and wife are weak in comparison with God, Who is the Strong One. However, between the two of you who are both weak, you are the DELICATE one of the two! This is not speaking about intellectual, emotional or spiritual power but in terms of being tender and gentle and therefore requiring respectful handling .
Let me explain further with an illustration.

In your home you have metal, plastic and China dishes, right? All are important but some are more important than others, okay? Now, which are the most important and need to be delicately handled? Not the metal and the plastic dishes, definitely. It’s the China dishes. In the home, the wife is like the China dishes. She’s not weak, but strong, precious, honorable and gentle by nature and should be handled carefully by her husband, her children and her in-laws. Why? Because she’s unique, special, adorable, priceless and requires careful handling. That’s what 1 Peter 3:7 is saying when it refers to wives as “the weaker vessels”. You’re an invaluable asset and resource person and have so much to accomplish for God in your marriage, family, home and beyond.

Unleash your power of influence on your husband. Together, the two of you can powerfully advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ in diverse ways: snatching many from the brinks of Hell
and populating Heaven!
