LONG AGO, ST. PAUL SPEAKING BY THE HOLY GHOST prophesied that in the last days, Apostates and Heretics would teach against the Marriage institution, an establishment founded by God Himself.
And exactly as he rightly foretold, it came to pass that men arose within Christianity to propagate the strange belief that the celibate state is superior to the married state and that’s is the condition for a true and higher state of holiness!
The truth is that these Anti Christs were sent out by the devil to destroy the most basic fabric of the human society: Marriage. It should interest to know that, till this very moment, the devil is still fighting the marriage institution ferociously. One of his methods of attack has been to create strange and new forms of marriage. Why? Because he knows that Marriage in it’s original form as instituted by God in Eden is crucially critical to God, to Man and to Life on earth in general.
In Satan’s quest to crush the Marriage institution and deny you and I of it’s tremendous and manifold life-saving and life-giving benefits, he has gone ahead and introduced several alternative and false forms of marriage. They include: Open Marriage, Exogamy, Trial Marriage and several others. And the most recent of them all is Gay Marriage, which he has mobilized the governments of powerful nations to promote and sponsor.
God instituted Marriage long before organized religion came into existence and ever before celibacy became an optional lifestyle for those who have TRULY received the Grace to embrace it. In other words, it’s complete fallacy that the celibate state is superior to the married state. Don’t ever fall for that lie which has lured many young people into a religious vocation for which they were neither designed by birth to fulfill nor given divine Grace to successfully carry out; and now many of them find themselves trapped in deep immorality, uncleaness and hypocrisy.
Thankfully, any one who chose celibacy and found out that they can’t cope are free to come out. I personally know a Reverend Sister who left the Convent and I also know a Priest who voluntarily dropped his liturgical vestments and left the Priesthood. Heaven did not fall. Neither will it fall if you’re led by the Holy Spirit to do so and you obey Him.
God instituted Marriage as the foundation of a complete natural and spiritual life on Earth. He firmly and fully believes in it and in all it’s components. His Word declares it as honourable and it’s bed of sexual blessings as immaculate, pure and undefiled! (Hebrews 13: 4)
Therefore, when you meet anyone, who ever they may be, that despise Marriage or tries to create an impression that it’s less important than other aspects of the christian’s life, mark them and beware of them. They might have departed from the faith as Apostle Paul long prophesied and embraced the doctrines of devils(1 Timothy 4:1-3). According to our anchor scripture passage(1 Timothy 4:1-3), one of the characteristics of such men is that they’ll “forbid marriage”. To forbid marriage also includes teaching against it in whatever guise, despising it and disparaging it. Such people seeing you reading Marriage Devotionals would say: “Haba, what’s wrong with you? Everytime, I see you reading about Marriage, Marriage, Marriage. Is that all you know? We’re talking about ‘heavier’ spiritual subjects like Sanctification, Holiness, The Second Coming of Christ and you’re talking about Marriage!” When you hear such, don’t be moved. The Truth those people don’t know is that in the divine scheme of things, nothing is insignificant. The God Who commanded us to live a holy life also commands us to love our Spouse; and gave us His Word to enable us live happy married lives. And to make a success and not a shipwreck of our faith, a strong, happy and resilient marriage is not just important but crucial. A good marriage protects the Christian’s purity.
One of the devil’s subtle methods of attack is to make a Christian leader underrate the importance of marriage, neglect to give it attention and then he’ll strike. That’s the method he has used to bring down many highly anointed Ministers and their fruitful Ministries. They paid attention to everybody and everything else but not their Marriage and then the enemy struck; and they have till this day never fully recovered.
Highly esteem your Marriage. Hold it close to your heart because that’s spirituality.
