IN MARRIAGE, DON’T LET YOUR EYES AND FEELINGS mislead you to conclude that your union isn’t worth holding on to. If you do, you’re most likely to regret it sorely; perhaps for the rest of your life.
Moses sent twelve men to spy the land of promise. For years these men believed that it was a land that flowed with milk and honey just as God Himself had said. But after the spying trip, ten of the men changed their mind about the land. They no longer considered it what they earlier believed it was. To them it wasn’t as God had said:
“And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.” (Numbers 13: 32-33)
For centuries, God had seen that land and it’s giants but specially preserved it for the children of Abraham His friend; with the plan to use them as His Army that would destroy those Giants
And now, the faithless Spies had their eyes more on the Giants than on GOD ALMIGHTY Who brought them out of Egypt by terrible miracles, outstanding signs and mighty wonders!
I remember long ago, during a staff meeting in St Peter’s College, Idah, Nigeria, one of our senior officers
told the story of two men who were in a Police Cell. The only point through which light came into the pitch-dark room was the keyhole in the door. At some point, one went to peep through the keyhole and came back. His fellow inmate asked what he saw and he said he saw the ground. His companion then went to peep. Asked what he saw, he said he saw THE SKY! Two men in the same Cell but seeing differently because of HOW THEY LOOKED!
Those ten lying Spies looked at the promised land with faithless eyes that could not see the Great God Who destroyed Pharaoh and Egypt for their sake doing the same thing to the uncircumcised Giants of Canaan land. They therefore brought a false report that led to their death, the death of others and the wandering of the children of Israel in the wilderness for forty years!
Thankfully, two of the Spies, Joshua and Caleb, looked differently and saw differently. They saw the Giants as BREAD! They saw them as preys they’d easily and cheaply conquer because God was with them! Hear what they said:
“Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; FOR THEY ARE BREAD FOR US: THEIR DEFENCE IS DEPARTED FROM THEM, AND THE LORD IS WITH US: fear them not.”(Numbers 14:9)
Unfortunately, some Spouses are like the ten faithless Spies in their marriage. They started their marital journey with so much excitement but after sometime they began to look at their Spouse and their marriage differently and forming strange conclusions. They began to see their union as doomed and with no bright future. They quickly calculated and evaluated things and said to themselves, “Oh Girl, are you gonna stay with this Dude who has no future? This is a sinking Ship. Things will only get worse here. It’s time for “DBD”: Disappear Before Danger!” And that was it. They concocted some excuses and “bailed” themselves out of the marriage. Meanwhile, their Spouse is peaceful, gentlemanly, nice and friendly.
But after five years of abandoning her husband, her great Beauty and her collection of certificates are yet to bring “high-class” Suitors her way. Infact, not even one Suitor has showed up. Only potbellied married men come to enjoy her and go away to tell others how she tastes.
As happens in life many times, the husband she dumped later got a big job with a multinational corporation and relocated to Japan with his new wife!
Don’t let your eyes decieve you! Your Mate is bigger and by far more illustrious than you can see at the moment.
How you see your Spouse and Marriage will affect your conduct in the union. Never take your Spouse and union for granted.
Never swallow the lie that there’s a better man or woman out there that will marry you “within six months” if only you’ll leave what you now call “a jalopy of a marriage.” If you dare forsake your Spouse, you might have bade goodbye to marriage forever!
So don’t quit. Abide in your matrimony and obey all the commandments of God on Marriage. As you and your Spouse do so, the God Who brought you together will gloriously transform your lives and your union and it will become a testimony to His glory!

🔥LET EVERY SPOUSE THAT’S ON THE BRINK OF TAKING A DISASTROUS MARITAL DECISION BE SNATCHED OFF THE PRECIPICE OF MARITAL DISASTER NOW, IN JESUS’ MIGHTY NAME!!!⚡⚡⚡
