DELILAH NEVER ARRESTED SAMSON NOR HANDCUFFED HIM TO MAKE HIM STAY WITH HER. NEITHER DID SHE USE SOME DIABOLICAL POWERS, AS SOME WOULD SUPPOSE. SHE ONLY POURED THE CHARMS OF HER FEMININE LOVE LAVISHLY ON HIM AND HE WAS GLUED TO HER UNTIL SHE ACCOMPLISHED HER ASSIGNMENT. Now, let’s do some mental work.
Imagine Samson sighting Delilah from a distance. She pleased his eyes as the kind of lady he’d love to relate with. He got close to her, greeted her and she smiled warmly and gave him a seat. She asked what he’d love to drink and he answered, “Anything is okay. Thanks.” She dashes into her house and instead of just “anything”, she comes with a big bowl full of Honey and Milk mixed. And instead of handing it to him standing, she goes down on both knees and says with all humility, “Sir, please manage this.” And while he’s still drinking, she soon brings him a plate of steamy Pepper Soup loaded with quality meat. She also brings him two other bowls each containing Water: one for drinking and the other for washing hands. And then she waits on him. As Samson is eating and drinking, he’s looking at her and thinking, “Wow, what a fine Lady. A real blend of Beauty, Character and Love. I’ve never seen this kind of woman before. No, not even in Israel.”
Before Samson would finish his drink and soup, she tells him, “Sir, when you’re done, you could come inside and rest on the Sofa. I feel you need good rest after coming all the way from Israel. Please, feel completely at home, Sir.”
As Samson finishes his drink he compliments her beauty and hospitality and tells her, “You know what, Lady, I’m in love with you.” Delilah smiles and tells him, “Thanks so much, Handsome! I love you even more!”
And as she holds Samson by the hand and leads him gently into her sitting room, she kisses him now and again. And then she shows him the Sofa. As soon as he’s sitted, she goes on her knees and gently removes his 👟 and 🧦 socks. And then she tells him to have his rest while she’s busy.
Now, some of you housewives would say, “God forbid that I would serve a man like this! Am a slave?”
There’s absolutely nothing slavish about the female conduct described above. For those who know their Bibles well, this is like the conduct of Rebecca when she was asked for a drink of Water by the Servant of Abraham. In response to that ordinary request, Rebecca went to extraordinary length to please the stranger whom she’d never met since Adam. She went beyond the call of duty. Did she lose or become a fool for demonstrating her feminine charms? No. She won big time. That conduct made her the wife of a handsome and holy Billionaire!
Now, let’s go on with our story.
Samson sleeps for over two full hours because of the rich drink of thick pure honey mixed with rich full cream milk fresh from the close by Dairy as well as the choice pieces of meat Delilah had served.
As soon as he slept off, Delilah had took his top coat that was obviously dirty, sweaty and stained and washed it.
All the while that Samson slept, Delilah ensured her house environment was quite just so Samson would have a sound sleep.
When Samson finally woke up he realized he had slept longer than he have wished. Then in comes Delilah with his top coat clean, dried and well folded. “My Love, I hope you had a good rest. Here’s your top coat. I washed it while you were resting. Launch is ready. May I serve you now, Sir? It’s my pleasure!”
Samson stands up and hugs her and says, “Come on, what kind of a woman are you? Are you an Angel in human form? Wow! I’ve never met a woman like you anywhere. You’re something else, Delilah.”
Unlike most women who’d push their husbands off when embraced, Delilah cleaved to Samson and engaged him in a long kiss that led them into her bedroom where she gave him what she knew he came for as a man: good Lovemaking.
Now, let’s pause and take some lessons before we wrap up for the day.
We’re now looking at how Delilah treated Samson. SHE TREATED HIM AS A VIP: A VERY IMPORTANT PERSON! She noted that his top coat was dirty and picked it, washed and dried it and folded it beautifully. Before he would wake up, his launch was ready. Before he could as for Sex she took the initiative of offering it unasked. Again, is this not like the conduct of Rebecca who did the right things without waiting to be asked?
Let’s face the truth: Samson was not a crazy man. He saw good virtues in Delilah and that’s why he stayed with her. It was only after sometime that the Lords of the Philistines sneaked in and bought Delilah over to betray Samson for pay. We wouldn’t know how much persuasion they invested to convince her. Our concern in this Devotional Piece is her liberal use of the natural qualities of attracting men and winning their hearts that God gave to her.
Many of you wives think that the way to win a husband’s RESPECT is to be unfriendly, hostile and harsh but that’s not it. Your husband touches your waist and you hit his hand very hard scolding him: “I’ve told you times with out number not to touch me when we’re not in the bedroom and in the night.” Your voice strident and cold. He withdraws his hand in pain and silently swears by his father’s grave never to touch you again except it’s you initiating romance. And since you don’t ever touch him, it’s six months now and he hasn’t touched you and you’re wondering why? Well, it’s because you’re such an “expensive woman”.
Our anchor scripture shows that a married man’s could be captivated or captured by another woman other than his wife. Since this is a possibility, it’s your duty as a wife to ensure that such doesn’t happen to your husband. How do you achieve this? BY RAVISHING HIM.
To ravish a man is to sweep him off his feet romantically and sexually. That’s how to keep a man. And sweeping him off his feet means lavishly giving him all that God has endowed you with as a woman: motherly love, sisterly love and wifely love.
