HAVE YOU EVER SEEN PEOPLE WHO GOT MARRIED💍💍💍 IN A BEAUTIFUL AND well attended wedding ceremony🎂🎁 🥂🍾🍩🧁but after the event🪘🎸🎺🎻🪗🥁 returned to their individualistic lifestyle: going to Clubs with friends and returning home to a lonely wife at 8 PM?🕗🕗🕗
In some cases it’s the woman. She’s involved in so many “do good activities” right into the night🕯🕯🕯💡💡🛋🛋 and when she gets home to an infuriated husband whose repeated corrections she has bluntly refused to heed, there’s a tense atmosphere in the home.
Some of these errant Spouses wonder why peace is missing in their home when they’re pushing so much 💰 💰 💰 into the family.
Sir/Ma, your marital dreams will remain a mere illusion for as long as you do not practice the Laws of Marriage as written in God’s Word.
A Lawyer📚📚📚 practices Law and makes a good living from it. An Engineer🔩🔩🔧 practices engineering and reaps good income. A Doctor🩺💉💊 practices medicine and earns good wages.
Practitioners of Marriage enjoy a vigorous, healthy, vibrant and ever growing union that’s ever getting sweeter and richer.
Negligence or partial practice of marriage leads to a weak union that’s riddled with rancour and that’s ever on the decline.
Sir/Ma, being married isn’t enough. You must practice the calling of Marriage according to the dictates of God’s Word to make a success of it. And basically it means being individualistic is completely an error as Marriage is a union of two persons who are no longer two but ONE FLESH (Matthew 19:6).
The truth is: we didn’t institute Marriage. God did. And He has given us in His Word📖📖📖 rules to guide our conduct in the relationship. He has told us in His Word specific things we must do for the relationship to be healthy and for it to grow stronger and stronger. These rules must be practiced by you and your Spouse or else you’d just be mere co-tenants. Worse still, you may even become two warring inmates and your home a mad men’s asylum, if you’re not careful to retrace your steps on time.
You might be asking, “What are those specific things we must do to be Practitioners of Marriage?” Well, a devotional piece is too small a space to tell you everything God’s Word requires you to do in Marriage. However, we’ll look at a few of them.
(1) SEE AND TREAT YOUR SPOUSE AS VERY YOURSELF: (Genesis 2:23)
Marriage makes you and your Partner ONE FLESH. Therefore, SEE AND TREAT your Spouse as your very self.
(2) KNOW YOUR DIVINELY ASSIGNED ROLES IN MARRIAGE AND FULFILL THEM
(1 Corinthians 11:3; Ephesians 5:23-33)
The husband is the HEAD in the marriage union while the wife is his BODY. The wife should submit to the husband and he should love her supremely as Christ loved the Church.
(3) SEXUAL INTIMACY SHOULD BE “DRUNK” IN MARRIAGE AS FREELY AS WATER(Proverbs 5: 15; 1 Corinthians 7: 2-5)
There should be an unceasing flow of sexual intimacy in your Marriage except when there’s a spiritual Retreat of Fasting and Prayer involving one or both of you.
Above are a few of the things that true Practitioners of Marriage joyfully embrace and enthusiastically practice. There are many others that space will not permit us to discuss here.
Be a Practitioner of Marriage and your union will be increasingly blissful into your old age.
