When we talk about “Body Image”, we’re referring to an individual’s perception, judgement and feelings about their physical body and how these affect their carriage and self presentation.
The Bible gives abundanct evidence that shows that each one of us has an excellent Body.
Our anchor scripture shows that none of us is ordinary or “casual”.
Each of us is a fearfully and wonderfully crafted being! Yes, crafted by no lesser a “Craftsman” than God Himself. And this truth becomes even more striking when we’re mindful of the fact that God created each one of us in His own image and likeness! So your Body is the image of God. And since God isn’t ugly then you’re not ugly. You’re a resemblance of the excellent God!
However, it’s important for everyone of us to know that we are different from each other.
And the fact that others are different from you doesn’t make them superior to you or better than you.
The simple truth is: God loves variety and diversity and so created each of us distinctly and differently from all other human beings for His own pleasure!(Revelation 4:11)
When you understand that your natural height, weight, complexion and peculiar racial traits give God pleasure, then you’re in the frame of mind of the Psalmist when he wrote our anchor scripture for today!
Never let people’s comments, views and opinion shape your body image. The social media and popular opinion aren’t authorities to determine the standards for good looks and sexiness.
And never let anyone’s opinion shape your view of your spouse’s body.
Marriage is a Body relationship. That’s why the Bible says that husband and wife are one flesh.
When you read the Song of Solomon, you’ll be amazed at how the couple had very high regards and appreciation of each other’s body. And do you know what? God caused that beautiful Book to be included in the volume of His Word so you and I would learn how to appreciate, love, cherish and openly eulogize and praise our spouse’s bodily form in loving admiration!
Beloved, your Body is very core to your Love Life and Marriage. Therefore take excellent care of it daily. But more importantly, always remember that you’re fearfully and wonderfully made. Your acceptance, pride and love for your Body will fill you with the confidence to enthusiastically and freely put it at the disposal of your Spouse in your mutual bedroom life.
So many Spouses aren’t fully enjoying the sights of each other’s body all because of the awkward feeling that they’re Body isn’t “good enough.” That’s the devil whispering his lies into their ears!
Madam, your breasts, backsides and thighs needn’t be like the woman next door’s to be “good enough”. That woman isn’t your standard or model. Our anchor scripture is!
And Husband, your “manhood”, muscles and beards needn’t look like the man next door’s’ to be “good enough.”
Whether male or female, you don’t need a mere “good enough” body. What God has given you is by far higher, better and superior to a mere “good enough body”. You have a Body that’s fearfully and wonderfully made by God. Acknowledge what you have; and proudly and optimally use it in your Marriage.
