Do you remember that after creating Eve, God personally brought her to Adam and honourably presented her to him as his wife?(Genesis 2:22).
When Adam beheld her in the glorious majesty of her feminine charms, what do you think happened?
Sure enough, Adam uttered the glorious words of Genesis 2:23. But was that all? Certainly not!
Let’s be practical.
Adam had never seen a woman all his life, let alone a matured one.
And suddenly he saw standing before him, at a very close range, a strikingly beautiful lady that was completely naked! And it was in broad day light with birds flying overhead and some singing in the trees.
Most certainly, as soon as he saw her, the sexual systems of his body switched themselves on automatically and the first husband on Earth was fully erect within moments. That’s the nature of every red-blooded man.
Yes, Adam said, “This now is the bone of my bones….”, but it was all as his true nature as a man was “fully at attention”! And this brings us to an important point.
Even though Adam had been sexually inactive all along, the arrival of Eve changed all of that.
Her presence and the erotic energy it automatically emitted charged the atmosphere with enormous amorous tensions. Adam’s sleeping libido was suddenly wide awake! And so also was Eve’s.
All these points to a simple fact: one of the reasons your Spouse seems to be almost always “after you” and asking for more sex, isn’t because they’re carnal or unspiritual. It’s because of your presence in their life as their marriage partner and legitimate lover. Your shere presence alone, even when you’re fully dressed, charges the atmosphere that surrounds both of you and gets their imagination and desires stirred. It’s a matter of time and that gentle stirring becomes a boiling urge that moves them to voice out their desire or reach out a hand to communicate their need to you by touch. And God doesn’t forbid any of these. Neither should they irritate you.
Note that your Spouse goes to town almost everyday; sees many persons of the opposite sex yet is calm and self-controlled. Never makes advances towards them.
But why is that when he/she comes back home to you, they become sexually super active? It’s because you’re the one and only person with whom they’re one flesh and God has given them the liberty to freely enjoy love with you. You are their God-given Cistern, Well, Fountain and River of sexual love and pleasure. And vice versa(Proverbs 5:15-17).
When you understand these truths, you will know that your Mate’s frequent hunger for your body isn’t because they’re lustful and lack self-control but partially because of your presence in their life. And more importantly, because of the marriage covenant you both share and which entitles them to sexual intimacy with you (Genesis 2:24).
When you understand this teaching, you’ll always willingly consent to your Mate’s request for sexual intimacy; knowing that it’s not a pretended need that’s aimed at inconveniencing or taking advantage of you but the perfect will of God for both of you in Marriage.
