Dear Wife, even though you may not know it, you occupy a very strategic position and place in the heart and life of your husband, by the perfect will and purposes of God.
Even though your husband may not realise it, you are a Shield of Defence to him and your family. And this is all the more reason why you should cleave tightly to him, irrespective of whether he loves and appreciates you as he should or not. Your cleaving to him is for his good, your good and the good of your children.
As our anchor scripture for today tells us, Lot’s wife looked back in disobedience to the clear command of the Angels who brought them out of Sodom. As a result, the Big Shield of Protection that was over her husband and children was suddenly “blown off”. Who or what was that Shield? That Shield was Mrs Lot. Once she was “blown off” as a result of her Sin, the forces of evil that pervert families and generations on Earth gradually walked into her Home.
Her sharp and unanticipated exit suddenly created a physical and emotional vacuum that no one and nothing could fill. The family must have felt again and again the cutting pains of her unexpected absence.
And then the worst happened. Her two daughters driven by ungodliness and hopelessness, plotted to make their own father drunk so they would commit incest with him. What a bizarre plot for daughters to conceive in their hearts!
There is no way this would have happened if their Mother were alive. There’s no way her husband would have been helplessly left to the device of his lustful daughters if their Mother were present. Please read:
“And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:
Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.”(Genesis 19:31-32)
They carried out their abominable plan and became impregnated by their father.
They gave birth to two Son that were worse than bastards.
Dear Wife, whatever you do, remember that your first ministry and calling in life is that of being a Wife to your husband and secondly to be a good parent to your children.
Do not let anything make you become negligent in your duties and responsibilities in these two basic offices to which God has assigned you. Negligence here could lead to horrifying disasters that would swallow you, your husband, your children and your home.
