ππToday, the world celebrates Christmas, a day on which we commemorate the birth of Christ.
ππBut unknown to most people is the genealogy of the person of our Lord and the people through whom He came to the planet earth.
ππJesus didn’t drop from Heaven. He came down through a family line that’s traceable to King David, which is why He was referred to as the Son of David.
ππOne of the couples in the long line through which He came is Salmon and Rahab.
ππYes, you read it right. Rahab!
ππThis is the same Rahab(Joshua 6:25), who was a Harlot when the Spies from Israel entered the locked city of Jericho and was used by God to facilitate the fall of the great and mightily fortified fortress city.
ππAfter the conquest of the great city, she was married by a man of Israel named Salmon. From that marriage was born Boaz, who gave birth to Jesse and Jesse gave birth to David who became the greatest King of Israel, the Writer of most of the Book of Psalms, a Lion and Bear killer; and the illustrious slayer of Goliath, the Philistine giant.
ππWhat’s our lesson today?
ππIt’s this: no matter how blemished a Spouse’s life may be and no matter what may be the seeming stigma on a couple, they never stop God from doing the amazing and the wondrous through them! A good example is Salmon and Rahab.
ππSalmon wasn’t any where mentioned as a man of note and significance in Israel prior to his marriage with Rahab. As for Rahab, the entire nation of Israel knew that she was a common prostitute when the Spies met her.
ππBut look how God blessed that marriage. It wasn’t only successful, the couple became the great grandparents of our Lord Jesus Christ.
ππSo, it doesn’t matter how people may see your marriage today, it’s greatness isn’t dependent on the opinion of men. It’s hinged on the holy and righteous providence of God Who sees the human heart.
ππI see your marriage going on to impact the world to the glory of God and bringing joy and meaning to the lives of millions, in Jesus’ name.
ππ MERRY CHRISTMAS!π πΒ
