πππFor those looking for an excuse to dump their spouse, forsake their marriage and find a new partner, of course, there are always plenty of excuses to choose from.
πππAs a matter of fact, they could create one or two for themselves and find logical reasons with which to make them sound real. But after leaving the marriage and finding a “new spouse”, what next? Will they “live happily everafter”? It’s highly doubtful.
πππExperience has proven that when people forsake their first marriage the second invariably fails. And if they move on to the third, the same fate awaits them. If you’re in doubt, ask the woman who met Jesus at the Well of Samaria; who had been married to five husbands and was, at the time she met Christ, living with a sixth man who wasn’t her husband!(John 4:17-18). Was she not beautiful? She definitely was. But what makes a woman or a man successful in marriage isn’t their good looks. There are several things and one of them is PATIENCE.
πππYour marriage is a love relationship; a one flesh life. It’s similar to the Christian spiritual life which is a relationship with Jesus Christ.
πππAs our anchor scripture tells us, Patience is a critical ingredient in the spiritual life. By it Believers succeed in their quest to possess the kingdom of God.
πππIn your Marriage which is a relationship with your spouse, patience is also extremely important. You must be patient if you want marital success.
πππPatience is one of the cornerstone qualities of true love and that’s why the Scripture says: “LOVE IS PATIENT, love is kind.”(1 Corinthians 13:4a; BSB). In the King James version of 1 Corinthians 13:4a, Patience is called long-suffering.
πππPatience is the ability to stay calm in the face of adversity, suffering or painful delay without getting angry or yielding to despair.
πππSir/Ma, if you want to succeed in your marital journey, you cannot do without this great virtue.
πππThe opposite of patience is IMPATIENCE and many who chose it and rushed out their marriage in search of “a better Spouse” have discovered to their great embarrassment and chagrin that they threw away “Gold” in pursuit of chaff!
πππDon’t make a shipwreck of your marriage!
πππLike Lot and his family were instructed by the Angels, you must not look back. Be focused. Keep your eyes on God Who joined you and your spouse. Be determined to obey His Word which says:
“What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”(Mark 10:9).
πππAlways remember that “tough times never last” and “every problem has an expiry date”.
πππ Whatever may be the challenges you’re battling with in your marriage today, cheer up!! Why? Because God is still alive and interested in you, your spouse and your marriage.
πππCry Out to Him in prayer and give faithful obedience to His commandments on Marriage and He will see you through.
ππQUOTES: “Be concerned about the practical needs that are crying for attention in the life of your mate. Give them the small everyday things theyβre yearning for.”(Anselm Ahman. From Lovebirds’ Devotional of April 22, 2024)
