🌹💕💍In one of our recent Facebook videos titled: “Don’t Be Lady-like, Be Abigail-like…”( search for MAXIMUM MARRIAGE MINISTRIES on Facebook) the Lord led me to teach that AGE is no factor in Marriage.
🌹💕💍In other words, if a woman is older than a man and they’re both happily willing to marry each other, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it.
🌹💕💍Marriage is a covenant union that’s based on mutual consent. Where there’s mutual consent and none of the two is a minor, the union is good to go!
🌹💕💍Madam, are you the older person in your marriage? There’s absolutely nothing to feel embarrassed or regretful about it. Husband, are you younger than your wife? There’s absolutely nothing odd or queer about your union. Don’t let people and their shallow, ignorant and ungodly views enslave you. You’re not accountable to anyone except God. And when joining Spouses in Marriage, God doesn’t consider Age but maturity and mutual consent.
🌹💕💍As our anchor scripture for today says: “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.”(Proverbs 18:22). A wife is “a good thing” irrespective of whether she’s older than her husband or not.
🌹💕💍One of the greatest assets in life is Understanding. And that’s why the Bible says: “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get UNDERSTANDING”(Proverbs 4:7)
🌹💕💍Yes, wisdom is important. But there’s something even better and higher than wisdom and it’s called UNDERSTANDING.
🌹💕💍Understanding is the ability to see things from God’s point of view. Understanding enables Spouses in marriages where the wife is older and the husband younger to know that they’re not mismatched but are an excellent and God-approved pair.
🌹💕💍 PEOPLE IN SCRIPTURE WHO MARRIED OLDER WOMEN:
🌹💕💍(1) DAVID
David was a man who had Understanding and saw things from God’s point of view; and knew that Age is never a barrier in Marriage.
🌹💕💍At the time he met a woman called Abigail, whom he later married, she was already well established in life and marriage. In fact, she was the wife of a Billionaire. At this time, David was just starting out in life and was even homeless.
🌹💕💍But when David proposed marriage to Abigail after the death of her husband, she quickly consented. Why? Because she also, like David, had UNDERSTANDING. Please, read:
“and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding and of a beautiful countenance”(1 Samuel 25:3b).
🌹💕💍Abigail was very beautiful and had been married to a Billionaire. She had touched money, known luxury and enjoyed the good life. She was apparently older than David even though her age isn’t mentioned in Scripture.
🌹💕💍At this time, David wasn’t even yet 30 years old. He was in his twenties! But Abigail had Understanding and so didn’t see David’s age and poverty as obstacles to marrying him! She practically rushed to be his wife. And their marriage was successful.
🌹💕💍She didn’t allow her beauty, wealthy background and exposure to the good life get into her head. She wholeheartedly submitted herself to David as his wife and God blessed their union.
🌹💕💍Dear Housewife, are you older than your husband? You’re in a perfect marital setting. Happily submit to your husband in all things as God commands (Ephesians 5:22-24) and you’ll enjoy your marriage.
🌹💕💍Husband, if your wife is older than you, there’s absolutely nothing odd about your union. Don’t listen to gossipers and talebearers. Walk in Understanding like David and love your wife ardently, fervently and zealously EVERYDAY; and your union will be full of harmony and peace!
