Enriching Matrimonies

NO ROOM FOR THE SPIRIT OF RANK!

Scripture:
‘AND THEY SHALL BE ONE FLESH’
(GENESIS 2:24c)

Sometime in the 1980s, it was the observation of a God-fearing Servant of God, from his pastoral experience, that most marriages where both Spouses were university graduates were marked with discord, pride and contentions. Why? Because each of them constantly brought their academic qualifications into their interactions and brandished it at every opportunity to prove a point.

Sir/Ma, thanks be to God for your collection of degrees; earned, probably, from some of the best universities in America and Europe.

However, if you truly want to make a success of your marriage, it’s important that you relate with you Spouse as if you don’t have any education. Why? Because Marriage is not like the workplace where your qualifications and nomenclatures are worn to announce your rank and your position in the hierarchical structure of the organisation.

In marriage, there are no ranks. There never was in the Beginning and never will there be room for the “spirit of rank” in the marriage union.

When you are at the workplace, your title as Comptroller General, Chief Medical Director, Consultant, Area Bank Manager, Director General, etc, are important. You’ll relate to your subordinates with authority and command as it should be.

But when you return home from work and walk through the entrance door into your sitting room, please have a change of mood and mode!

Forget those titles and drop the “airs” that makes the entire secretariat see you as the non-nonsense officer.

Relate and interact with your children as Father, Daddy and Baba.

And when it comes to your beloved Spouse, completely cast off all the “airs of officialdom” joyfully consdescend to them and relate with them as your lover, companion and soulmate: the flesh of your flesh and the bone of your bones. Why?

Because Marriage is a One Flesh union and must at all times be so. The husband as the Head and the wife is HIS Body. It’s like the physical human Body.

In the physical human body, no part claims superiority over another. Instead, there’s equality of all members and they work in harmony; even though they have different functions. So should it be in marriage.

In conclusion, Marriage is a One flesh union of a man and a woman who have chosen to be one for life.

No matter how much education you have or how rich your parents may be, walk in the footsteps of Christ, Who although was God, made Himself of no reputation but humbled Himself to accomplish the Father’s purpose for sending Him to planet Earth.

Similarly, completely humble yourself to accomplish God’s purpose for joining you specifically to your Spouse.

📚📖🌹QUOTES:

“Dear housewife, allow your husband to see The Beautiful Burning Bush between your thighs, often and on! And as he does, he’ll be captivated, enchanted, entranced, wooed, enthralled, charmed and continually fascinated with YOU; even when he’s a thousand miles away from home! Because the memory of your Burning Bush will be continually ablaze in his mind. 🔥🔥🔥”(Anselm Ahman. From Lovebirds’ Devotional of April 30, 2025)
