Sir, thanks be to God for the wife you married!!!
Perhaps, you feel differently and can’t see how you’ll agree with the paragraph above; because as far as you’re concerned, your wife is a rebel who isn’t subject to your authority but challenges you at every opportunity.
Well, I only plead for one thing right now and it’s this: please, patiently read this devotional piece through to the end.
The basic marital command God gives to every husband is the verse that’s our anchor scripture for today. It tells husbands to love their wives as Christ loves the Church and gave His very life to save her from eternal damnation in Hell. What has been the outcome or result of Christ death on the cross? The salvation of billions of amazing souls down through the centuries! A typical example is Saul of Tarsus, a persecutor and hater of Christians, who was transformed into the Apostle Paul and ended up becoming the most prominent among the Apostles and wrote much of the New Testament! Apostle Paul is just one out of billions of lives transformed amazingly because of Christ’s supreme love.
Sir, in telling you to love your wife as supremely as Christ loves the Church, God has given you the secret of what you’ll do to see your wife transformed from a contentious, rebellious, stubborn and disobedient woman to a submissive, humble, reverential and virtuous woman and wife you’ll be proud of.
The problem of most husbands is that they don’t practice supreme love. They just live under the same roof with Madam but don’t give obedience to the command to love her to the point of laying down their very lives to meet her needs.
The thing is, like the Disciples of Christ were closely watching Him from day to day, so is your wife quietly watching you.
When Christ served them meals for three years they said nothing. But when Christ washed their feet on the eve of his death, Peter couldn’t take it. The impact was simply too strong he wouldn’t let the Lord wash his feet. But for what the Lord said, he wouldn’t have let Christ wash His feet. We all know what became of all those twelve men except Judas Iscariot. They were all sold out for Christ all the rest of their lives.
Self sacrificing love is one of the greatest transforming powers in the universe. The command to love your wife extremely and supremely isn’t given, to break your neck. It’s a power given you with which to silently transform your wife and see the best of her emerge.
Just living with your wife under the same roof is natural and ordinary. But when you switch over to loving her at great costs and sacrifices to yourself just to meet her needs and to make her happy, you’ll gradually see her change into a great woman that’ll stun you. It’s then that the rubbish around her life will mysteriously vanish and the Ruby in her will emerge to your joy and happiness. And then your marriage will become sweeter and richer than ever before! Amen!
❤️💕 TONIGHT’S ASSIGNMENT IN THE BEDROOM
Reread the devotional piece just before bedtime and soberly discuss it.
📚📖🌹QUOTES: “It’s time to put on Christ even in the home and in our marriages. It’s time to be a Disciple of Christ in your marriage bedroom. When you miss it stop trying to cover-up. Humble yourself, admit your fault, confess to your mate and PLAINLY ASK TO BE FORGIVEN. Stop playing tricks.”(Anselm Ahman. From Lovebirds’ Devotional of May 3, 2024)
