♂️🏈♀️🥥🍂If you allow the devil, he will make you miserable in your marriage. He will give you a thousand and one reasons why you shouldn’t have married your spouse. He will almost write a whole book to prove that unless you leave your spouse, you will not be happy ever again in your life. That’s why God sternly tells us, “Neither give place to the devil.” (Ephesians 4:27)
♂️🏈♀️🥥🍂DON’T LET HARDSHIP DEFINE YOUR MARRIAGE
Sir/Ma, please hear this: the fact that your marriage has been bedevilled by so many trials, temptations, and hardships does not mean that you made a mistake in marrying your partner.
Of course, there are people who yield themselves as instruments of the devil, and he uses them to make nasty remarks to incite you against your God-given spouse. But from this moment forward, when they utter their foul words, don’t be moved. Don’t even bother to answer or explain things to them. They don’t deserve your explanations.
♂️🏈♀️🥥🍂THE TRUE-LIFE STORY OF A RURAL COUPLE
When I was young, my mother told me a true-life story about a young man in her village who married a young damsel, and for a long time, there was no sign of pregnancy. This was long ago, when Nigeria had not yet gained her independence and Christianity wasn’t as widespread as it is now in the country. It was a rural community dominated by African traditional religion.
♂️As the childlessness continued from year to year, people began to spread rumours that the husband of the childless woman wasn’t “a real man.”
🥥If there’s a lie that can break a man’s heart and provoke him to marry a new wife to prove himself as a man, it is an accusation of impotence. But this man refused to be moved by the rumours pouring out from the rumour mills in the agrarian community. He cleaved steadfastly to his wife, and she also held on to him very firmly.
🏈You see, nothing can beat such a couple, and God will naturally back them because the Scripture says:
“God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.” (Acts 10:34b–35)
🍂This man and his wife were not born again, and it’s even doubtful if they were churchgoers. But they loved each other, valued one another, believed in each other, and had sincere hearts, and God backed them up.
♂️🏈♀️🥥🍂AND GOD VISITED THEM
One day, it happened! The wife realised that she was pregnant. At the end of nine months, she gave birth to a bouncing baby girl. Once she had her baby, the noise over her barrenness died down.
♀️Then she had her second and third children, each of them a girl. And suddenly, the gossip mills resumed their work. They said, “Every time, it’s a girl; every time, it’s a girl. When will she give birth to a baby boy?”
🍂Then the husband of the woman laughed and said, “When my wife did not conceive, they said that I was not a proper man. And now that she has given birth to children, they complain about the gender.”
🏈He could see their folly. He didn’t waste his time trading words with them.
♂️🏈♀️🥥🍂DON’T LET THE PRESSURE AROUND YOU MAKE YOU DESTROY YOUR MARRIAGE
If the people around you, or the thoughts of your own heart, are telling you to dump your marriage and your spouse and “go out there and find yourself a better man or woman,” do not yield.
♀️Rather, be sober and vigilant, because the devil is the one mounting all those pressures against you.
🍂The spouse you have may not look like it right now, but hear this: there is greatness hidden in them that you can’t see at the moment.
♂️🏈♀️🥥🍂THE DWARF AND THE LEARNED LADY
Hear another true-life story that was told to me by one of my former pastors, a humble and meek servant of God whom I highly respect.
🍂An unmarried female lawyer had a dream in which she saw herself getting married to a brother in her local church who was a dwarf. After she had the dream, she tearfully went to her local church pastor and told him. The pastor comforted her and told her to calm down.
🏈Not long after, the brother also had a dream in which the Lord revealed to him that the lady lawyer in the church was his wife. Bewildered as to how this could be possible, he ran to the pastor and told him. The pastor appreciated him for sharing his dream and promised to pray over it.
🥥The servant of God knew that God was at work. Long story short, the short brother and the lawyer got married.
♂️And then the Great Joiner of couples, even God Almighty, began blessing them.
♀️God gave the brother landed properties in the big city (name withheld) where they lived. They built housing estates. They became rich, eminent, and prominent.
🍂If you know the world well enough, then you would understand that people don’t look at your height before they bow to you, pay you homage, and do obeisance to you if you are rich. If you are wealthy and powerful, men bow and prostrate before you, irrespective of your stature.
🏈That was the case with this couple. They became highly respected, influential, and powerful.
♂️🏈♀️🥥🍂PRECIOUS LESSONS
What lessons can we learn from these two couples?
♀️The lesson is this: be content with the partner God has given you. God created them, and He knows how to lift them up from zero to hero. He knows how to give them beauty for ashes.
🍂The first man stuck to his wife through the years of childlessness, despite the cruel and merciless tongues of men, and God blessed them with children.
🏈The second couple, especially the lady lawyer, was content with God’s will for her to marry a dwarfish man, not minding what people would say in the years ahead. And God rained His blessings upon them and changed their status in society.
♂️🏈♀️🥥🍂CONCLUSION
Don’t leave your marriage because things have been harsh and hard for the past 20, 25, 30, or more years, despite all your prayers and hard work.
🥥Wait!
♂️Don’t murmur. Don’t grumble. Don’t rebel. Just wait! Wait on the Lord.
🍂Fix your eyes and faith on God, and He will visit you!
♀️Just one year of His rain of blessings will compensate for your many years of matrimonial sweat, toil, and tears.
