🚰🫧🔨 🩵🔥 In yesterday’s devotional, we said: “Many spouses with dull sexual desire are in that condition because of factors such as ignorance of the liberating truths of the Word of God and blind adherence to the traditions, culture, taboos, myths, and superstitious beliefs of their tribes.”
🫧For them to be liberated, firstly, ignorance of the liberating truths of God’s Word has to be dealt with. Secondly, blind adherence to traditions must be crushed. These two enemies keep very many spouses from having a robust sex drive.
🚰🫧🔨🩵🔥WHAT THE WORD OF GOD WILL DO
Before we look at the Scriptures that build sex drives, I want you to see how they work to set men and women free.
🚰🫧🔨🩵🔥THE WORD OF GOD IS A MIGHTY LIGHT
The Psalmist said:
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105).
🌝God’s Word is mighty, supernatural light. It is bigger than the sun, the moon, and the stars combined. The word “lamp” in that verse should not give you the impression that the light of the Word of God is something as small as your made-in-China lantern. It is the greatest Light ever, and that Light is Christ, Who is the Word of God (John 8:12; John 1:1–5).
☀️In another place, the Psalmist said:
“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple” (Psalm 119:130).
⭐He is saying that when God’s Word gains access into the human heart, it fills it with mighty illumination that results in the person gaining a new ability to understand things differently from before. It gives them insight, perception, awareness, and discernment. It equips them with a sudden and unlearned ability to see things better, differently, and with depth.
🚰🫧🔨🩵🔥THE BONDAGE BREAKER
The Word of God isn’t only a mighty Light that illuminates; it is also a fire and a hammer:
“Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?” (Jeremiah 23:29).
🔥When a married man or woman receives the Word of God on sexual intimacy in marriage, those words burn up all the cultural ideas, superstitions, taboos, and myths that have been making them sluggish, lethargic, and slow-footed sexually. As a supernatural hammer, those words crush all the fallacies, hypocrisy, false spirituality, and all the other things that have locked or blocked the person’s sexual appetite all along.
🌅The result is a brand-new spouse who is no longer shy, timid, indifferent, apathetic, or lukewarm towards sexual intimacy, but eager, zealous, avid, keen, enthusiastic, and passionately desirous of marital fellowship.
🚰🫧🔨🩵🔥THE SCHOOL OF SUPERLATIVE SEX
I can never forget the first and only time we ran the School of Superlative Sex in 2001 in my home at Ugwolawo, Kogi State, in the Middle Belt region of Nigeria. I had never, in my entire life, taught sex. I was, naturally speaking, the shy kind of person. But when God spoke to me about running “The School of Superlative Sex,” I obeyed, travelled to Lokoja, and printed the publicity materials.
🎤As we taught, the unexpected happened: attendance grew very rapidly. The audience was strictly married couples. Yet, before long, my sitting room was overcrowded, and people had to sit outside. Why were they trooping in despite the fact that the meetings held in the late evenings? It was because the Word of God on sex life in marriage was working as Light, Fire, and Hammer, destroying the wrong and destructive thoughts, concepts, beliefs, ideas, notions, and mentality about sex that had held the people back from being free with each other in the bedroom for years!
🚰🫧🔨🩵🔥SCRIPTURES ON SEX THAT WILL LIBERATE YOUR SEX LIFE IN MARRIAGE
🖼️(1) Genesis 2:24
Genesis 2:24 says:
“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”
🪇The cleaving mentioned in this verse is primarily sexual intimacy. It is what makes spouses one flesh. This means that sex is the very bedrock and foundation of marriage. It is what creates the one-flesh union.
🎴It is only natural for each of the spouses to always have a positive attitude towards this basic matrimonial activity of married life which existed long before immorality surfaced on earth.
🚰Any spouse who hates this aspect of marriage is an enemy of the institution of marriage, and such hatred is never spirituality or piety, as some assume. It is rather a breaking of the marriage covenant and, therefore, equivalent to an armed insurrection, rebellion, and treason against the institution of marriage. God definitely does not take such lightly.
💎(2) Proverbs 5:15–17
Proverbs 5:15–17 shows that sexual intimacy is a cistern, a well, a fountain, and the rivers of the matrimonial world.
🪙Throughout the world, there is no human being who hates water or lives without water. We all drink it freely every day, bathe with it daily, and do our laundry with it. We swim in it in the river.
💻Both males and females love water equally. There are no research results anywhere telling us that men love water more than women, or vice versa.
💡We all know that water is more important to our lives than food.
🏮In married life, sexual intimacy is the water for spouses. Like physical water, the wife needs it as much as the husband, and the husband needs it as much as the wife. No one needs it less than the other. These truths should end all the pretentious behaviours that some spouses put up in marriage.
🛋️In Proverbs 5:15, God expressly commands:
“Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well” (KJV).
“You should enjoy your own wife, as you enjoy clean water to drink” (EASY).
💿The two translations above make it vividly, lucidly, and expressly clear that God Himself is commanding spouses to drink the water of sexual intimacy as freely as they drink physical water.
🪞This means that the spouse who is not drinking but instead putting up another kind of behaviour to show how they can do without sex is exhibiting signs of abnormality. Such signs signal that something is wrong with them. They are obviously under another spirit and most definitely not under the holy influence of the Blessed Holy Spirit, Who inspired the Scriptures on sexual intimacy in marriage.
🚰🫧🔨🩵🔥CONCLUSION
So, watch your spouse. If they hate sexual intimacy with you, it is just not ordinary. Something is wrong. We are not saying that they are running mad, but they are obviously under a negative and wrong spiritual influence(1 John 4:1). That spirit needs to be ruthlessly burnt and hammered out by the Word of God on sexual intimacy in marriage.
