🍇💜🍆No matter how much you and your spouse love each other, there will come times when your union will seem like the earth in the beginning: shapeless, bare, submerged in a flood, and draped in thick darkness. But don’t make the mistake of forming conclusions based on what you see and how you feel.
🍉The earth in the beginning was far worse than your marriage. But God saw no need to give up on it. Instead, He set out to work with His spoken Word, and a glorious earth emerged. So also will your marriage be transformed if you and your spouse refuse to give up, despite the daunting magnitude of the discord in your midst. All you need to do is follow God’s example in Genesis chapter one.
🍇💜🍆GOD USED WORDS, NOT WRATH
God used His spoken Word to do the great and monumental work of transforming the earth. He didn’t use words of rebuke, reprimand, and condemnation. He used gracious and creative words to speak forth what He wanted to see on the earth and in its firmament.
🪴What do you want to see in your marriage? Do you want to see peace between you and your spouse? Then speak words that will engender peace and not hostility. This means that you’ll have to overlook some of the irritating behaviour of your mate that could cause conflict instead of peace.
🍁If you want to see your marriage filled with love, then speak loving words to your partner and back those words with acts of love. Remember, love overlooks wrongs. So, overlook the wrongs of your mate so that your efforts to cultivate love in the relationship will not be defeated.
🌿All this means that you will need to sow whatever you desire to see happen in your union, and they will become realities.
🍇💜🍆DON’T TRY TO DO MANY THINGS IN ONE DAY
When God looked at the ugly earth that was covered with darkness and buried in a flood, the sight was disturbing enough for Him to have been in a hurry to change everything in one day. After all, He is Omnipotent. But He didn’t. He chose to create gradually instead of making all things in one day. You need to walk in His footsteps.
🤎Work on your marriage with the principle of “One Day at a Time.”
🥥In my book titled God’s School Of Delay: Miracles After Sunset, there’s a chapter that teaches one of the principles of life that the Lord revealed to me. That principle says: “You Don’t Build a Cathedral in a Hurry.” Similarly, you don’t build a good marriage in a hurry. This is the secret many didn’t know, and they hurriedly divorced a dear spouse because they saw the characteristics of the submerged earth in their life and concluded that they were beyond change.
♂️Sir/Ma, no man or woman is beyond change. And God never gives up on anyone, so why should you?
🍄🟫Our point here is this: don’t seek to effect so many changes in one day. And never think that you’re going to achieve these changes by your own power. Instead, it is God who will do it through you. This means that you should not take matters into your own hands by ordering your mate around the house and embarrassing them.
🍇💜🍆ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS
Beyond the six days of creation in Genesis 1, God is still working. He is doing the work of redemption, using His Word through preachers. But He doesn’t stop with sending His Word through preachers to us. He backs His Word with acts of love, mercy, kindness, and compassion that He shows to us in various ways daily: protection, provision of food, clothing and shelter, and other acts of goodness too numerous to mention here.
🍊Similarly, back your creative words with acts of kindness, respect, cordiality, friendship, generosity, etc., toward your mate.
🍇💜🍆DON’T BE JUDGMENTAL
Do you know that even though God sees and knows the secrets of all men, He is not eager to condemn? He is not keen on executing judgment speedily. The Bible says:
“Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.” (Ecclesiastes 8:11).
🏞️God is not condemnatory. And that’s exactly how Jesus Christ, His Son, is too:
“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” (John 3:17).
🌵This is how we should also be.
🌲Don’t get so quickly worked up, shivering with wrath and screaming at the top of your voice because your spouse damaged the car or something else in the house. If you want a glorious marriage, give thanks to God for protecting your mate’s life. After a while, you can both put your heads together and gradually plan how to get the car repaired.
🩵Blaming and condemning each other are among the things that turn marriages sour. And if this behaviour continues, the relationship becomes completely bitter. This is the point at which the devil steps in to make suggestions about infidelity or divorce to one of the partners.
🪺Avoid playing Judge, Prosecutor, and Policeman over each other. After all, your marriage is not a courthouse or a police station. It’s a Love Paradise.
🪵So, keep a judgmental attitude out completely!
🍇💜🍆CONCLUSION
God joined you. Therefore, always be mindful of the fact that He is the biggest Stakeholder in your union.
🍍Don’t make any major decision in your marriage without first praying to Him about it.
🍌Depend on Him, rely on Him, and, above all, obey His Word, instructions, and doctrines on marriage, and your union will be a sweet colony of heaven on earth.🍇🍆
