ARE YOU AN “IDOL SPOUSE” ? (PT. 2)

Scripture:
‘4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands. 5 They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: 6 They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not: 7 They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat. 8 They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.’
(PSALM 115: 4-8)

AS SPOUSES, GOD HAS ENDOWED YOU with endless potentials and abilities to explore, discover and optimize your love and marriage world; just as He did Adam and Eve and commanded them to explore and transform their world(the Earth).

The Earth has diverse physical features like mountains, rivers and oceans. It also has mineral resources and precious stones that are hidden beneath it’s surface.

Similarly, you and your Spouse have divers Love Resources that you both need to discover and exploit for your mutual blessing and enrichment.

Apart from commanding procreation (Genesis 1: 28), God never told the original couple what to do with each other’s body. At no time did God tell Adam to kiss Eve his wife. They were highly in love and at the same time curious, eager and adventurous to discover the joys and thrills deposited in their respective bodies for their mutual entertainment and delight. Through their “Love Adventurousness”, they discovered some of the ways Spouses enjoy each other today.

As a couple, it’s unhealthy for you to come to a point where you’re no longer excited, curious, captivated and intoxicated with each other’s body. It’s also important that you’re adventurous to discover new dimensions and dynamics of love that future generations could learn from you.

Never become an IDOL SPOUSE who can no longer see, feel, hear, taste or smell their marriage partner and care less about it.

In our anchor scripture passage, we see the husband enthused and enchanted with his Spouse. This leads him to admire her in detail saying what some may feel are beyond decency. But if there was any indecency in the man’s admiration, God won’t have passed the Song of Solomon to us.

A slow and meditative consideration of our anchor scripture passage shows you:

1) A man who had so much of his wife on his mind it overflowed into a musical composition that glowingly eulogises his Dame.

2) Shows us that Love between man and wife isn’t meant to be a dull, clueless, stale and insipid coexistence that’s gone frozen.
It should be, as examplified in our anchor passage, a sizzling and fervent love affair, irrespective of age.

Don’t be an IDOL SPOUSE who lives with a legitimate Mate but can’t see, feel, smell and hear the Love endowments of their Partner to cherish and admire them. Be a living libidinous lover who’s ever excited about their Mate.
