ON THE DAY SHE GOT MARRIED, there was a large crowd of gorgeously dressed guests that included her in-laws, loved ones, friends, colleagues, etc. Dressed in her queenly nuptial robes, she was the cynosure of all eyes.
That day, her name changed. Her status and “level” of honour in the society soared. Everybody celebrated her.
However, what transpired in her Marriage from that day until when the account in our anchor scripture took place we don’t know. But our anchor scripture tells us that she was caught committing adultery. The report is explicit. It says that SHE WAS CAUGHT IN THE VERY ACT!
To aid our understanding, let’s look at the scene of her capture by the those who probably had been trailing her for quite sometime.
For her to have been caught in the very act, it’s very likely she’d been suspected to be unfaithful and Spies were stalking her. When her illicit lover opened the door for her, the “Agents” saw her walk into his house. They hurriedly undressed and then began THE ACT. Suddenly, they was a heavy thud of human feet on the door that crushed it open and before they could disentangle and put on any wears, assailants had taken hold of her and swiftly dragged her out!
They took her to Christ Whose intervention saved her from death. But Christ didn’t go beyond that. He did nothing about her disgrace, her shame and the fate of her marriage and family life.
As usual, news about sexual scandal travel extraordinarily fast. Soon her husband heard it. Soon the bad news had reached her dear parents and her Mother burst into tears. Her siblings, her In-laws, her neighbours, her old school mates, her professional colleagues, her church members, her enemies. Everybody soon heard the shameful news with bewilderment.
God’s Word says: “But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding”(Proverbs 6:32a). Yes, it’s lack of understanding that makes those who venture into Infidelity or Cheating lose sight of the fact that they could be caught. They forget that Adultery comes with a very heavy price tag. The news of your disgrace and shame will spread beyond your wildest imagination. It will reach every where including the Camp of your enemies! This is more so in our present age of android phones and secret cameras.
Dear Reader are you cheating on your spouse? REPENT NOW and ask God’s forgiveness. But if you persist, you’ll likely to be filmed by a hidden camera and the video posted on the internet where the WHOLE WORLD will watch your folly and laugh at you the rest of your life. It has happened to many and YOU MIGHT BE THE NEXT.
