Enriching Matrimonies

ARE YOU TOYING WITH YOUR SPOUSE?

Scripture:
‘THEN AGAIN ABRAHAM TOOK A WIFE, AND HER NAME WAS KETURAH.’
(GENESIS 25:1)

🍍🥭SUPER-RICH AND BLESSED BUT LONELY!
At the age of 140, Father Abraham was stupendously and exceedingly rich. He was great, and God had blessed him in everything: gold, silver, cattle, sheep, and so much more. But he had become single and lonely again because his wife, Sarah, was dead.

🍍🥭In his household, Father Abraham didn’t just have servants—he had hundreds of them! His dwelling was not a lonely, quiet or cold cottage in the middle of an eerie forest; there were more than enough people to keep him company.

🍍🥭Most importantly, he possessed a vibrant spiritual life. He had grown to the stature of a “Friend of God.” There was no other man like him on the face of the earth at that time.

🍍🥭LONELY LIKE ADAM IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN
Yet, Abraham’s life eventually mirrored that of Adam. Adam lived in a fantastically beautiful garden and had thousands of tame animals, birds, and creeping things to amuse him. He was the manager of the greatest garden on earth, yet he was lonesome. God eventually stepped in to end his solitude because it was no longer good for him to be alone. Such was the case with Abraham: the single life was no longer appropriate or safe.

🍍🥭For him, marriage had not only become necessary once again; it was critical.

🍍🥭Stupendous wealth, greatness, hundreds of eager servants, and even intimacy with God could not replace the role of a wife.
And so, Father Abraham remarried. Our anchor scripture tells us that he married a young woman called Keturah. Why?

🍍🥭He needed a soulmate to be beside him in the dead of night. He needed someone who would be “one flesh” with him—someone to whom he could freely unburden his heart and share his dreams. While God was always there, Abraham needed a human being of the opposite sex who would be the bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh. Marriage is what offers this connection on a platter of gold.

🍍🥭ARE YOU TOYING WITH YOUR SPOUSE??
Today, many toy with their spouses and their marriages because they have “made it.” Success has come; they’ve been appointed to high government positions or listed among the most famous people in the country. Suddenly, because they are in the “Billionaire Class,” they feel they can mistreat their spouse. They believe that if their partner reacts, they can conveniently dump them and marry “someone better.”
Friend, if you are thinking this way, you are to be greatly pitied; you are playing right into the hands of the enemy.

🍍🥭YOUR CAREER CAN NEVER BE YOUR SOULMATE!
Do not disregard the husband or wife God gave you when you were a “nobody” just because you now possess power, wealth, fame, career success, etc. Do not think that a booming business empire with offices in China, the UK, Australia, Germany and New York is a ready-made replacement for a spouse who “misbehaves.” Your business offers many things, but it can never be your soulmate. Your career will never be flesh of your flesh or bone of your bones.

🍍🥭HIGHLY ESTEEM YOUR SPOUSE!!
Appreciate your mate. Highly esteem them. Do not let your new position, increased beauty, or additional educational laurels deceive you into looking down on your spouse with whom you began life as husband and wife. Even if they contributed “nothing” to your current ascent, do not make the mistake of assuming they do not matter. You need them.

🍍🥭Hear me clearly: they are a precious gem you must not lose. Hold them close to your heart. They are a gift from God. Don’t learn your lesson the hard way!
