SOME MONTHS AGO, I watched a video recording of the court proceedings of a case between a Pastor in one of Nigeria’s well-respected pentecostal denominations and his Wife.
According to the Clergyman, his wife was already committing Adultery. He told the Judge, in the hearing of all that were gathered in the courtroom, that his wife was doing so because she now prefers men with “big cucumber”, if you understand what that means. The question is, why didn’t she have this strange craving for “big cucumber” all along, until they already had three grown children? How and when did her new preference evolve? Could it be that she caught the “big cucumber” bug from the social media where many self-appointed female “sex therapists”, “relationship coaches” now endlessly promote, advocate, glamorize and popularize “big cucumber”?
Worldliness isn’t only when we begin drinking alcohol and smoking weed. It’s basically heeding the counsel of the ungodly, much of which now abound on the internet; walking in the way of sinners and sitting among scoffers. It’s accepting and living by the vogues of the sinful world where we, as Believers in Christ are supposed to be only strangers and pilgrims.
Spouses must be highly careful and discerning with what they listen to as well as what they read on social media. Many have been misled by what they heard or read to believe that they married the “wrong kind” of man or woman. For instance, if at the time you met your Spouse and they proposed marriage to you, it was obvious that they weren’t tall and you were content with their height and build and you heartily consented, why should you now be regretting marrying them because “people” are saying uncomplimentary things about men who are not tall? When you accept such views, you simply show yourself as immature and a slave to the views and opinions of others.
Only one thing should shape your perspectives and fundamental beliefs and that’s the Word of God.
God’s Word tells us that we are all fearfully and wonderfully made and that all God’s works are marvellous (Psalm 139: 14). It further tells us that God personally evaluated His creation on the sixth day and saw that everything He made weren’t only good but VERY GOOD (Genesis 1:31). And that includes your Mate. Therefore, you have no reason letting any strange and negative views into your heart. Such thoughts are from the devil. They are seeds of discord meant to break up your marriage.
And when it comes to the couple’s bedroom life, size, shape, height and width do not matter and that’s why God created men and women in different sizes; knowing that any Spouse can excell in the marital intimate life irrespective of their size. What counts there is skillfulness: a quality that all can acquire.
So, don’t be deceived to have a wrong attitude towards your Mate. It’s unfortunate that some have thrown away a good and promising marriage for flimsy reasons they now regret.
