Our anchor scripture for today commands us to offer gratitude to God.
It goes on to tell us we should do so because God is good and His love is endless. What a scripture to ponder on as the beautiful year, 2025, makes it’s exit!
As a couple, you will do well to sit down together and take a look at your Marriage and love life; and count your marital blessings and name them one by one. And when you do, you’ll be overwhelmed by the sheer realization of how much blessings God has literally poured into your lives this year.
Two years, or so, before I got married, a Makurdi-based Brother who was barely one month old in his marriage visited my work place, the LGA Secretariat, Idah, in Kogi State, Nigeria.
As we spoke, the conversation somehow turned to the topic of marriage. I can’t explain how it did any way. But it was at this point that I saw how highly appreciative the Brother was of his Marriage. He expressed his joy for being blessed with a lady from “so-so-and -so family” where he never dreamed of marrying from. And then he went on to tell me what a great blessing it is to have one’s own exclusive woman, A WIFE, to enjoy in bed sexually. He went further to say, “go out and find out how much it costs to take a street woman home for one night. You’ll then realise what a great blessing it is to enjoy a wife in bed night after night without paying a dime!” He said all these unsolicited. Mine was to be attentive and hear what he had to say and I’m happy for the lessons he graciously passed to me that morning.
Today, I’m happy to report that this man still loves and cherishes his wife. And I believe that the heart of gratitude over his marriage has greatly contributed to the stability and prosperity of their union.
Sir/Ma, have you ever sat down and counted how many times you have made love in one year? If you’ve been married for 20 you’ve made love with each other for literally multiplied thousands of times!
Now, let’s suppose you’re the conservative and maritally unenthusiastic couple who make love with each other only 3 times every week. Use your Calculator and you’ll find that you make love 12 times in a month, 624 times in a year. This is a load of benefits from your marriage. Free, pure and clean Sex that doesn’t give your conscience any bite when it’s all over but instead adds so many health and spiritual benefits to your lives.
What’s the statistics of your sleeping in one bed? Of hugs, kisses, embraces, seeing your spouse’s nakedness for free; eating meals cooked by your wife in the comfort of your home and all you do is sit down and eat?
Sir/Ma, the simple truth is: the blessings God funnels into your life through your marriage every second of the day are simply unquantifiable.
Sadly, some Spouses don’t see these blessings let alone counting them; and so they fight their partner and crown it all by visiting prostitutes or “Area boys” to commit adultery. If you’re guilty of any of these, create time and get before God and ask His forgiveness for your sins before crossing over into the new year.
As our anchor scripture tells us: the Lord is good and His mercies are endless. Apparently, He has rained so much of His love and mercies on you and your spouse this year.
Find time to kneel together, even if briefly, to give Him thanks in one accord and to offer praises to Him.
