🪵🪹🪺🌄Today, I checked WORLDOMETER once again after a very long time.
On Worldometer, you see real-time counters that show global records or statistics of several things, including births and deaths as they occur.
🪵🪹🪺🌄THE GLOBAL RECORDS OF MORTALITY
Every single second that ticks, more than one person dies. We wouldn’t be wrong to conclude that many of them are spouses who are leaving behind deeply cherished mates as grieving widows or widowers.
🪵As I watched the increasing statistics, I concluded that, as good as Worldometer’s records are, they still do not reflect the accurate number of deaths occurring every second, as there are many other incidents of death in remote places of the earth that are not transmitted to Worldometer’s website.
🪹Going by the general global mortality statistics, 120 to 127 people die every minute, and 7,200 to 7,500 people die every single hour. This is disturbing. Yet, the reality is that the numbers are much higher. This is all the more reason why we must all, as Christians, be more active in the work of evangelism, using the means within our individual reach.
🪵🪹🪺🌄ENJOY LIFE WITH YOUR SPOUSE DAILY
Grim as the statistics above may be, they are not presented here to make you feel gloomy or afraid. They have been this way for years and are only a confirmation of what the Scriptures have long said about the brevity of life:
“For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” (James 4:14b).
🪺Seeing the brevity of life, our anchor Scripture tells you, in very plain terms, to enjoy life with your spouse, who is your God-given lover, sweetheart, and bundle of sweetness.
🌄Now, is our anchor Scripture telling you to become a worldling who lives for hedonism and serves the god of sensual pleasure? Never! Read that Scripture again, and you’ll see towards the end that it clearly recognises the place of work, callings, vocations, businesses, and ministries. But then, it tells you that, as you attend to all those things, you should also see to it that you and your spouse have the time of your lives. Why? Because, as far as this present life is concerned, good times with your spouse are among your best earthly rewards.
🪵Isn’t it obvious? There is nothing you enjoy that is higher or better than your spouse—a human being of the opposite sex, made in God’s image and graciously given into your bosom to relish for scores of years. No other form of pleasure comes anywhere near resembling it, let alone being equivalent to it or surpassing it. And by our anchor Scripture, God tells you to maximise your enjoyment of each other.
🪵🪹🪺🌄YOU ARE BOTH GROWING SWEETER EVERY DAY
As we have taught in some of our past devotional messages, God presents you with a new version of your marriage partner every morning.
🪹Today, your spouse isn’t just one day older but one day sweeter! Yes, your spouse GROWS sweeter every new day. This is especially true of those who are born again.
🪵🪹🪺🌄LIKE THE DATE PALM TREE
In Psalm 92:12a, believers are likened to the date palm tree (Phoenix dactylifera).
The date palm has one distinct and inimitable quality: its fruit gets sweeter as it ages. In other words, it bears sweeter fruits with each new year. No other fruit tree grows sweeter fruit with each passing year or age milestone like the date palm. As a believer, you are like the date palm tree.
🪵🪹🪺🌄GO “ECCLE-NINE-NINE” EVERY NEW DAY!
This means that if you and your spouse are born again, you each have a spouse who gets sweeter every new day. So, what are you supposed to do? You are to go “Eccle-Nine-Nine” every day. Meaning: live out Ecclesiastes 9:9 every day. Live joyfully with each other every day. Make sure you taste the new version of your spouse every day before they change to a better version tomorrow.
🪹God didn’t give your spouse a new taste to be left untasted. And when spouses are busy tasting each other daily, they’ll have no time or interest in tasting any so-called “new wine” the devil may offer in the form of a strange man or a strange woman.
🪺Jesus made it very clear:
“No one who drinks a well-aged wine wants new wine, but says, ‘The well-aged wine is better.’” (Luke 5:39; CEB)
“Besides that, after drinking old wine, people don’t want new; because they say, ‘The old is good enough.’” (Luke 5:39; CJB)
“No one wants new wine after drinking old wine. They say, ‘The old wine is better.’” (Luke 5:39; CEV).
🪵🪹🪹🪺GAMES AND SPORTS
When we talk of tasting your spouse, it goes beyond tasting them romantically and sexually. It also includes, just as we have taught in the past, engaging in non-sexual activities that bring you together in active companionship. After all, marriage is basically for companionship. And there are very many things that can keep you actively engaged with one another during the after-work hours of the day, as well as during your weekends and holidays.
🪵🪹🪺🌄CONCLUSION: LIVING JOYFULLY THROUGH SPORTING ACTIVITIES
One of the nonsexual activities is to engage in indoor sports and games.
🪵Just as we can see in the accompanying photo for today’s devotional, you and your spouse can invest in creating a place where you can play some games together once in a while.
🪹When spouses are often busy with interesting, engaging, and marriage-boosting activities, their relationship with each other will become so strong and airtight that there’ll be no cracks for the spirits of infidelity to sneak in and wreak havoc.
So, live joyfully with each other every day!🪵🪹
