THANK GOD FOR YOUR profession, vocation, business, ministry, etc. It’s a blessing and God wants you to excel therein. But so also does He expect you to be dutiful, faithful, diligent and meticulous in your responsibilities as a Husband or Wife. This is because “The Home Front” is very important to Him. It’s His first institution on planet Earth.
Recently, I read the the unenviable account of the marital life of a Multi Billionaire. He’s had several marriages and each of them crashed for one and same reason: he didn’t deem it necessary to give time and attention to his wives. His dreams of making more money was always bigger than anything and anyone else.
Never use your job or profession as an excuse for insensitivity and lack of affection for your Spouse; more especially when it’s within your power to control your presence and absence from your home.
As far as God is concerned, living in obedience to one divine command, while you’re defiant and rebellious to another, can never get you His approval and praise but rather you are seen as a wicked transgressor in His sight. This means that if you jet around the globe winning souls but do not meet the sexual and other matrimonial needs of your beloved Wife, you are transgressing. That’s exactly what our anchor scripture is saying.
“Souls are perishing!”, you cry tearfully. But they still will, even if you don’t do anything else but evangelize. The truth is: God isn’t counting on you alone for world evangelization. He has called you to do only a part. Not even St Paul the Apostle did all the soul winning in his time. Thousands of others were involved.
Sir/Ma, there’s no doubting the fact that the harvest is plenteous and the labourers few. Yet, God expects you to still be a good, dutiful and responsible Spouse in your home alongside your job, business, ministry, etc.
Don’t say that the zeal of the Lord’s House is consuming you so much so that there’s a restless fire burning in your bones that won’t let you stay at home romancing your wife; and that she’s only being carnal and walking in the flesh by desiring more sexual intimacy. Beloved, be very careful. Beware of the doctrines of devils. (1 Timothy 4:1-2). Since you didn’t choose Celibacy but Marriage, do not default. God expects you to keep your part of the Marriage Covenant.
In a nutshell, there is the need for you to live a balanced life. As they say: “Don’t rob Peter to pay Paul”. Don’t defraud your Spouse of their matrimonial rights because you want to please your fans, customers, clients, parishioners, etc. It might lead to something as stunning as the following:
Sometime ago, a Preacher’s wife woke up one morning and locked the door of her home, just as her husband was about to go out to “do ministry” again. She locked the door and hid the keys. Not done yet, she told him point blank, “SIR, YOU’RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE TODAY! PLEASE, WE ARE GOING TO MAKE LOVE ALL DAY LONG!” She wasn’t in rebellion. The truth is, she’d had enough of his insensitivity, complacency and lackadaisical attitude towards their Bedroom Life and had chosen to snatch what belonged to her. He’d robbed her long enough!
If you think she’s wrong, consider the fact that this approach is by far better than CHEATING and contacting deadly diseases.
It’s good to please those who need our services but we must not do so at the expense of our long-suffering Husband or Wife.
