FURNISH YOUR MARRIAGE! (PT. 2)

Scripture:
‘LET HIM KISS ME WITH THE KISSES OF HIS MOUTH: FOR THY LOVE IS BETTER THAN WINE.’
(SONG OF SOLOMON 1:2)

🌿🪴🌴🌳Yesterday, we saw that there are other things you need to add to your marriage beyond submission and love. One of those things is: knowledge of the worth of your spouse and your Marriage.
Today, we’re looking at another quality your union needs to be furnished with. It’s the all-important quality of: Living as Romantic Lovers.

🌿🪴🌴🌳LIVING AS ROMANTIC LOVERS
Yes, it’s true that you’re now husband and wife. However, the truth is that you’re first male and female; for “male and female created He them” (Genesis 1:27). And when a male and a female fall deeply in love and choose to marry each other, they are lovers. They behave as lovers, talk as lovers, and dress as lovers. And once the traditional marriage rites and church wedding are done, they are divinely licensed to practice all the levels of love. They are now married lovers. Call them licensed lovers and you’re absolutely right.

🌿🪴🌴🌳PRACTICE YOUR MATRIMONIAL VOCATION!
A celibate priest or nun practices their vocation openly. The priest dresses in his cassock and the nun wears her religious habit, each without the least feeling of inhibition.
The doctor, nurse, engineer, etc., practice their profession boldly.
Similarly, spouses should boldly practice romantic love in all its forms. Of course, discretion, maturity, and wisdom must be your watchword so you don’t behave inappropriately before your children or in the wrong place. But you must not let fear make you abandon the romantic life and opt for a tame and fireless companionate or platonic marriage. That would be so sad, as even God Himself will not be pleased with your choice.

🌿🪴🌴🌳THE SONG OF SOLOMON
One of the reasons God gave us the Song of Solomon is for us to see firsthand, from the pages of His Word, that a sizzling and overflowing romantic life is His perfect will for married couples and that it can be lived within the holy borders of righteousness.
The Song of Solomon is a gift to the Church. It is there to teach us to throw away shame, shyness, and prudishness and be the red-blooded male and female God created us to be — in our respective marriages.
Let the “chemistry” that bubbled between you at the beginning of your marriage not die down. Stoke the flames continually and ensure they keep burning increasingly and ever more intensely!

🌿🪴🌴🌳CONCLUSION
Marriage was from the very beginning a glorious love affair, and that’s how God wants it to always be. Don’t let yours be anything less!🪴
