MARRIAGE IS FIRST AND LAST A ROMANTIC AND sexual relationship. Viewing and living it differently is to create a caricature of it.
In His wisdom, God has placed a great abundance of pleasure in the Marriage relationship. This is the pleasure of romantic and sexual love. This delight is to serve as a sweetener to sweeten the couple’s lives and again and again; as well as to protect them from the widespread epidemic of sexual immorality and the sexually transmitted diseases(STD) that go with it.
God didn’t place so much sweetness in your Marriage for you to only drink a teaspoon full of it once in a fortnight. When you do, of course, it’s no Sin but it isn’t wisdom either. It shows you’re short sighted and naive about spiritual warfare. This is because
sexual intimacy was also given for your PROTECTION 🛡 🛡 🛡 🛡 🛡 against Satan’s fiery arrows 🏹 🏹 🏹 🏹 🏹 🏹 of sexual temptations. Under utilizing sexual intimacy in marriage places you on the slippery path that leads to infidelity.
Thousands of generations have enjoyed the delights of sexual love in marriage only in hush-hush silence. Shame and shyness wouldn’t let them verbally acknowledge it’s supreme sweetness. But in the Song of Solomon, we have a couple who had the courage to express in Songs 🪕 🎻 🪗 🎶 🎻 💕 🎼 🎶 the glory and splendour of sexual intimacy in marriage.
In our first anchor scripture, the woman declared truthfully the love of her husband as BETTER THAN WINE. Note that she didn’t say that it’s as good as wine 🍷 🍷 🍷 but BETTER THAN WINE!
In our second anchor scripture, the husband also declares the same thing: the love of his wife was BETTER THAN WINE! He volunteers more information: HER LIPS DROP AS AN HONEYCOMB AND HONEY AND MILK ARE UNDER HER TONGUE!
The bold and open declarations of this couple reveal what God has graciously placed in EVERY MARRIAGE for the Spouses but many are so blinded by ignorance they only take a teaspoonful of this blessing once every two weeks, shrug their shoulders and walk away saying, “It’s not food that should be taken everyday.” But that’s a dangerous assumption.
In his book, FINISHING STRONG, Author Steve Farrar tells of his conversation with a christian gentleman who found it rather strange that he (Steve Farrar) would spend 100 pages discussing sexual temptations in his book POINT MAN. Here’s Steve Farrar’s answer: “BECAUSE I THINK SEXUAL TEMPTATION IS THE NUMBER ONE ISSUE IN THE LIFE OF MOST MEN, AND I THINK IT’S THE PRIMARY WAY THAT THE DEVIL PICKS OFF CHRISTIAN MEN.” The man found Farrar’s answer hard to believe. To him sexual temptations aren’t as rampant and neither are they burning issues. But guess what. Just six months later the same man impregnated a woman in his local Church. To make matters worse, the woman he impregnated was another man’s wife! Yes, he ended up impregnating the wife of a fellow man in his own local Church! That’s what happens to an overconfident man who makes light of the fierce spiritual battle that’s going on.
When God placed the Cistern, Well, Fountains and Rivers of Sexual Love in your Marriage (Proverbs 5:15 -17) He wasn’t playing. He did because you would need them in your journey. If you think you don’t need them for the sweetness you would most certainly need them for PROTECTION.
