SOMETIMES IN LIFE, YOU DON’T KNOW THE TRUE WORTH OF WHAT YOU HAVE UNTIL you see those who don’t have it and are crying desperately for just a little bit of it; no matter how small.
When you visit the hospital and see the critical health condition of some patients, you’ll value good health all the more.
When I saw for the first time an accused persons ordered to undress and be in his very last underwear before entering the Police Cell, I marvelled. As soon as he was pushed into the cell and I heard him screaming in panic and fear, I shook my head, acknowledging immediately that freedom isn’t just important and precious but extremely priceless.
In Proverbs 5, precious divine warnings are given against extramarital affairs. From verses 9-14, we see the tragedies that go with the patronage of harlots, prostitutes, whores, runs girls, side chicks or whatever name you prefer to call them.
Over ninety percent of the men who patronize these deadly women have no idea who they’re fraternizing with or how lethal they are. Hear what the Scripture says:
“For a whore is A DEEP DITCH; and a strange woman is A NARROW PIT.
She also lieth in wait as for a PREY”(Proverbs 23:27-28a). Contact with them brings you into inescapable captivity and makes you a helpless prey: spiritually, physically and economically.
But our precious anchor scriptures tell us something beautifully glorious. It’s to love the wife of your youth!
Your wife is referred to as your FOUNTAIN. Ordinarily, a fountain is a spring of Water issuing from the earth. Fountains bring forth perfectly pure and sparklingly clean water that doesn’t only satisfy thirst but is a delight to behold. So your wife is your God-given fountain of pure and undefiled romantic pleasures and sexual delights; and God commands you to see her as divinely blessed. This being so, you are to continually love, cherish, extol, exalt, honour and highly esteem her. Yes, celebrate her for the immense pleasures you derive from her from year to year. Praise and eulogize her!
Our anchor scripture further commands you to REJOICE IN THE WIFE OF YOUR YOUTH. She may now be grey headed and her beauty much diminished but God says enjoy romantic and sexual love with her as enthusiastically as you did in your early days of marriage.
In verse 19, you’re lovingly commanded to see her as the most beautiful woman on the face of the earth. You’re exhorted to derive ceaseless pleasure from her BREASTS!
Now, were getting to the peak, the crescendo of this glorious message! You’re COMMANDED TO BE INTOXICATED WITH YOUR WIFE!
In our third translation presentation, you’re exhorted to: “BE LOST IN HER LOVE FOREVER!” Wow, how I love that! Indeed every man who knows the worth of a wife should.
Wonderful Husbands, God wants you to go well beyond just living with your wives. He wants you to be DRUNK, INEBRIATED AND INTOXICATED with her everyday.
When you’re drunk with your wife and she’s drunk with you, the door is forever is locked against infidelity and divorce as far as your marriage is concerned.
Put very bluntly, drinking means having romantic interactions and sexual intimacy with each other frequently, increasingly, unsparingly and enthusiastically. That’s how to be intoxicated and stay intoxicated with each other.
