MARRIAGES ARE FALLING apart in scores every week.

It would interest you to know that this is not because those concerned married the wrong persons but because they were not not instructed on how to love their Mate in Marriage.

In loving your Spouse, THE VERY LEAST YOU CAN DO IS TO LOVE LOVE THEM LIKE YOURSELF. That’s the level of love God demands that you show to your next door neighbours as well as the unknown people you meet along life’s pathways.
Its about being compassionate and empathic like the Good Samaritan rather than being judgemental.

The question now is: HOW DO LOVE YOURSELF? When you understand how you love yourself, you can love your Spouse that way.

So the question: How do you love yourself?

One of the ways you love yourself is by seeing only the good side of your self and being deliberately blind to your weaknesses; because you know that consciousness of your weaknesses weakens you and erodes your self confidence.

And not only that, you deliberately project your strengths, capacities and abilities. It’s these qualities you want to be known, remembered and recognized for. Infact, you keep your weaknesses secret. You never for any reason flaunt them.

And of course, you love yourself in so many other ways too numerous to discuss here; and that includes daily feeding your body, delicately bathing it and dressing it beautifully.

Loving your Spouse means doing all the above for them with the touch of excellence, since your Spouse is more important than your nextdoor neighbour.

As you’re deliberately blind to your own weaknesses, so also should you be blind to the weaknesses in the life of your Mate and focus your attention on their strengths, abilities and their many peculiar and positive characteristics and talents.

If dwelling on your own weaknesses make you feel weak and lower your self-confidence, then know that bringing up the past failings of your mate again and again would most definitely weaken their spirits and make them feel disapproved by you. And what’s the outcome? It will create rifts between you that would widen over time if they’re not wisely arrested.

Your first and foremost duty in Marriage is to serve your Mate as their Lover by loving them graciously and unconditionally.

Leave their imperfections for God to sort out.

In our anchor Scriptures, you can see the outpouring of pure love as the Spouses admire each other generously. They’re both blind and oblivious to any imperfections in each other. The Man admires the woman so gloriously and the woman does the same. This is how it should be in your Marriage.

Stop seeing each other’s faults, weaknesses and shortcomings. No one under the Sun is an Angel. And even Angels are not perfect. Only God is!

Love and celebrate your Mate as they are. Do your best in loving them and God will handle their lives and do what you cannot do.
