🤎🤎What makes the beginning of a marriage so sweet that it is universally known as a “honeymoon”? It is the spirit of joy that is abundant in the union. But where does this joy come from? It flows from the hearts of the new couple. As a result of the success of their marriage ceremonies and the actualization of their long-held dreams, their hearts are filled to overflow with joy.
Because they are rejoicing, this joy empowers their passion, affection, and desire for one another. The result is that they give themselves to each other freely, willingly, and merrily.
🤎🤎GENERATING JOY DAILY
When spouses understand the critical role and place of joy and rejoicing in their relationship, they realize it is important to daily generate joy in their marriage. How is this done? By obeying the Word of God in this regard.
God’s Word reveals that our strength as believers does not come from food alone. It tells us that “the joy of the Lord” is our strength.
One of the devil’s ways of fighting you as a couple is to orchestrate or prompt as many negative incidents as possible within a given day to make you miserable and unhappy. You counter him by giving practical obedience to the following scripture: ”Rejoice in the Lord always; and again I say, rejoice.” (Philippians 4:4)
🤎🤎THE POWER OF REJOICING
Be joyful because God says, “Rejoice evermore” (1 Thessalonians 5:16). By obeying the command to “rejoice in the Lord always,” you generate joy, which is itself a power that makes room for miracles and wonders.
🤎🤎JOY IN THE PHILIPPIAN JAIL
Remember Paul and Silas in the Philippian prison? They prayed, then they switched over to rejoicing—even when they were in pain and there was practically no earthly reason to rejoice. As they rejoiced and sang, the atmosphere for wonders and miracles was created. Suddenly, a mighty earthquake swept through the city, and their chains were broken!
When as a couple you choose to rejoice even in the midst of harsh circumstances, you aren’t just opting to feel good; you are activating a spiritual force that protects, strengthens and greatly deepens your romance.
