♀️♂️👠🧢Many years ago, I met a beloved brother at Ogugu, in Kogi State, Nigeria. He is one of my elders in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, who saw my beginnings as a new convert in Christ. Since we hadn’t seen each other for years, our conversation soon turned to the days when we all lived at Idah, Kogi State, Nigeria, in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

♀️♂️👠🧢​THE GREAT REVIVAL OF THE 1970s
​As we conversed and reminisced, he said something that struck me. He said, “We were in a revival but didn’t know it!” The instant he said that, I knew it was perfectly true. We were in the midst of a mighty revival that swept across the length and breadth of the entirety of the old Benue State of Nigeria, but we didn’t realize it.
​Similarly, many spouses have a wonderful, amazing, and awesome marriage partner today, but they don’t know it, and so they do not appreciate the enormous blessing with which they have been mercifully endowed by God in the person of their spouse.

♀️♂️👠🧢​THE WORTH OF A VIRTUOUS WOMAN
​Our anchor scripture first asks a question and then makes a statement of fact. It tells us, in essence, that virtuous women are a rarity. They certainly exist, but like rubies, they are uncommon and scarce. This is because, like rubies, they are choice, exquisite, and exceptional.

♀️♂️👠🧢​A LOOK AT RUBIES
​Rubies are mined globally, but the highest qualities are found in Burma, Mozambique, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tanzania, Vietnam, Cambodia, and the United States. One carat of high-quality ruby costs over one million dollars! Yet, our anchor scripture says that the price or the worth of a virtuous woman by far exceeds that of the highest-quality ruby. Still, many husbands already have such priceless, peerless, inestimable, and incomparable wives in their lives, but rarely open their mouths to appreciate or praise them. Why? Because their focus is mostly on her imperfections, mistakes, and weaknesses.

♀️♂️👠🧢​QUALITIES OF THE VIRTUOUS WOMAN
​The Bible says:
​”A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.” (Proverbs 12:4)
​This verse gives you a means of recognizing whether your wife is a virtuous woman or not. It says that a virtuous woman is a crown to her husband. A crown positively changes the status of a man, right? A crown transforms a commoner into royalty.
Similarly, by the presence of a virtuous woman in the life of her husband, he is uplifted, elevated, recognized, respected, honoured, and treated with dignity. He is never despised, ridiculed, or belittled on account of her. Never! Instead, because she is resourceful, God-fearing, and chaste, people highly regard him. She exudes strength, wisdom, femininity, and inner beauty.
​If your wife has these qualities, then look no further for a virtuous woman, because you already have and live with one.

♀️♂️👠🧢THE VICIOUS WOMAN
​But how do you know a woman who is not virtuous? The second part of Proverbs 12:4 reveals her:
​”…but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.” (Proverbs 12:4b)
​The woman who is not virtuous is known by the shame, reproach, disgrace, and odium she brings upon her husband—either openly or secretly.

♀️​I was once in a large estate in a big city in Nigeria, and my host sorrowfully told me of a married woman with whom various men within the estate were sleeping. Yet, they all knew her husband. That is a woman who brings shame to her husband, because those men will be laughing at him in their hearts.

♂️​Or, if a housewife is a street fighter and always causes her husband the embarrassment of being called to the police station, she is not virtuous. She is a disgrace.

👠​Or, if she is a thief or a shoplifter, she is a disgrace and brings reproach upon her husband.

♀️♂️👠🧢TAKE HER BY THE HAND!
​But if your wife does none of these things and has never brought shame, infamy, or disgrace to your doorstep since you married her, then know that you have been blessed with a virtuous woman all along but didn’t know it. Now that your eyes are open, please, take her by the hand and acknowledge her. Appreciate her. She deserves it and much more!

♀️♂️👠🧢​CONCLUSION: CELEBRATE!
​Similarly, wives should appreciate their husbands who have never brought shame upon them since they have been married.

♀️​Spouses need to understand that there is a world of difference between a “good spouse” and a “perfect spouse.”
Perfect spouses do not exist anywhere. The best you can have is a good spouse: one who never brings shame upon you. Many of you have that already, irrespective of their imperfections like anger, untidiness, laziness, or a poor fashion sense. These are correctable weaknesses that will vanish as you live together and love each other.

♂️​So, appreciate your spouse, if you have never been disgraced because of them. Throw a small, private party in the bedroom if you can. That is not too much to do to acknowledge and celebrate the gift of a good marriage partner!👠🧢
