🌃🌹Honeymoon is not a period.
Neither is it a season in the couple’s life and relationship.
The whole of Marriage is meant to be a ceaseless, continual and an increasingly intensifying Honeymoon!

🌃🌹Literally speaking, “Honeymoon” is a combination of two significant words. The first is Honey, which is one of the sweetest and healthiest foods. It’s also highly medicinal.

🌃🌹The second word “Moon” is the gentle, bright light that lights up the night sky and drives the darkness away.

🌃🌹Now, the question is: during your Honeymoon, what written script did you follow to be as “honeysweet” and “moonbright” to each other as you were? None!

🌃🌹You both naturally knew that it was good to be well-behaved, clean, fragrant, passionate , affectionate, friendly, kind, unselfish, loving , etc. And you went on and put up your best and brightest behaviour in all your interactions with each other. The outcome was a sweet honeymoon experience that you have not forgotten over the years.

🌃🌹Just as you used your minds to find ideas on how to be sweet to your husband or wife during the honeymoon, use your mind daily to discover new ways to make one another happy.

🌃🌹Of course, the Scripture gives us basic instructions and guidance. It’s now left for you and your Spouse to use your minds intelligently in finding ways to apply the Scripture such that what you do and say in your union always increases the level of harmony, friendship, romance, affection, passion, compassion, companionship and sexual intimacy in your marriage.

🌃🌹Now, let’s focus on some of the areas of marriage mentioned in the last paragraph.

HARMONY
🌃🌹Harmony is about unity and speaking with one voice.
Fundamental to harmony is unselfishness. If you remember, during your honeymoon you both spoke and acted more in the spirit of “We”, “Us” and “Our”. Not “Me”, “My” and “I”. But later, selfishness sneaked into your hearts and you began to be individualistic.

🌃🌹Dearly Beloved, it’s time to get back to your original state of Harmony.

ROMANCE
🌃🌹During your honeymoon, you held hands, embraced and hugged each other freely.

🌃🌹How about kissing? Oh, it flowed like a river. But somehow, you both gradually stopped it.
Now, you need to return to it and to all the other outward displays of affection such as hugging , embracing, etc. Don’t let the devil deceive you to believe that they’re childish, carnal or worldly. They’re important to the wellbeing of your Marriage as a love relationship.

SEXUAL INTIMACY
🌃🌹Like every normal newlyweds, sexual intimacy was something you both came into marriage with a high and ravenous hunger for.

🌃🌹And right from the first night of your Marriage, your hungrily “devoured” each other’s body.
None of you pretended to be pious, holy or the master of self-control. You were both sincere about your sexual desires. But after sometime, one of you began to feel “spiritual” and too holy to be available for intimacy “so often”. And so began the deterioration of that beautiful aspect of your marriage. And now, it’s in tatters!

🌃🌹Beloved, it’s time to drop the fake righteousness and the mask of pretended spirituality. You’re not holier than God who commanded that Spouses shouldn’t deny each other of sexual intimacy except when there’s a consensual Fast ongoing.

CONCLUSION
🌃🌹Just as deviating from the Way of the Spirit to the legality of the law of Moses is foolishness, so also is forsaking the lovely ways of Honeymoon life that
you embraced at the beginning of your marriage and taking to the pedestrian lifestyle of  being mere co-tenants is foolishness. It’s like what St. Paul said in our anchor scripture:

🌃🌹”Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?”(Galatians 3:3)

🌃🌹Return speedily to your Honeymoon! Start tonight!
Thankfully, it’s a weekend. So start a new and unending Honeymoon.
