♀️♂️🌹💍Do you want to succeed in your marriage? Do you want your union to last until the exact moment God has ordained for death to separate you and your spouse? Well, I’ve got news for you, and it’s good news. You can achieve your glorious desires. The key to accomplishing them is right there in your Bible: it is walking in true love. Put another way, love is the key to fulfilling your wonderful marital dreams of having a long-lasting and glorious union.
♀️♂️🌹💍A QUESTION FROM A HIGHLY RESPECTED ELDER
At a recent Church Family Week event in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, where I was privileged to minister, a highly respected church elder asked why some folks who don’t know much of the Bible stick together in marriage and grow into old age together, while many who go to church and have much knowledge of the Bible have wobbly, rickety, and ramshackle marriages after only a few years of tying the knot. The reason is simple: those church-going and Bible-cramming couples with wobbly marriages lack the true love that is anchored in the fear of God.
♀️♂️🌹💍”BIBLE MERCHANTS” WITH EMPTY HEARTS
It is not a matter of amassing so much knowledge of Scripture, attending several Bible courses, earning diverse certificates, or going to all the big meetings where all the big names in Christian circles are ministering. Nor is it about being ordained as an official in the church. It is, rather, a matter of having a heart that fundamentally loves and fears God; because when you love and fear God, you will definitely love your spouse, who is your fellow human being. What does the Scripture say?
”If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?” (1 John 4:20).
♀️♂️🌹💍BETRAYING YOUR SPOUSE INTENTIONALLY
One of the proofs that you have true love in your heart is that you will not choose to wrong, betray, or backstab your marriage partner intentionally for any reason:
”Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.” (Romans 13:10).
♀️♂️🌹💍UNLETTERED FOLKS ACHIEVING MARITAL FEATS
Why do some ordinary folks who know little or nothing of the Bible stick together in marriage until an advanced age, becoming grandparents and great-grandparents? They have love and the fear of God in their hearts. In other words, even though they have not amassed scriptures in their minds, they have the natural law of God in their conscience and follow it diligently:
”14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: 15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another” (Romans 2:14-15).
These simple folks, though unlettered in the Bible, are careful not to do what is wrong. They simply say, “It is not good. I won’t do it. Even if no one is seeing me, Almighty God is seeing me.” That is why they don’t commit adultery, deception, or fraud against their marriage partner, even when it is obvious that their mate will never find out.
♀️♂️🌹💍HEARTLESS, CHURCHY FOLKS
Meanwhile, many churchy folks who never miss church services are committing adultery and calling it “cheating,” and yet sleeping peacefully at night and even snoring without qualms. They can suddenly wake up one morning and decide to divorce their mate, even when their partner has done them no wrong. They do not mind how much pain they are going to inflict through their selfish actions, nor the many years of emotional suffering their decision will cause their innocent partner. All they care about is their lust, ego, and sensual desires. So, they do everything to get rid of their partner and marry a new one. Meanwhile, they are members of a so-called “living church.” They forget the heavy words in Hebrews 13:4b:
”…but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”
♀️♂️🌹💍THE LAND OF THE SUNSHINE OF KISSES
Yes, marriage is truly the land where the bells of romance are ever chiming. It is the clime where the sun of kisses never sets. Yes, it is full of sprawling beaches of romantic rendezvous, but it is also a place where you will encounter unexpected challenges. Yet, as you walk hand in hand with each other in unfailing love, forbearing love, enduring love, long-suffering love and compassionate love, which is the true love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, you will climb every mountain and cross every river you meet on your way to your matrimonial Canaan land—your restful old age.
♀️♂️🌹💍PURPOSE TO WALK IN LOVE
When you have purposed to walk in love and practically do so, the hidden virtues of love will gradually be released into your life to help you cope with challenges as they arise. When you need endurance, you will find it manifested. When you need hope to go on—when despair is screaming, “Go back! Go back, because this marriage is a disaster”—you will find that the hope built into love will emerge to walk with you. It will energize you and help you see a beautiful future in a marriage that already seems bleak. You will be motivated to continue because you have seen what others cannot. Hope allows you to catch a glimpse of a glorious future.

Make up your mind to walk in true love as you live with your spouse. That is the key to accomplishing your dreams of having a marriage that will last until God’s time, when death will finally separate you.🌹💍
