YESTERDAY WE LOOKED at MENTAL CLEAVING, which is one of the four ways of cleaving that true Lovebirds practice in marriage. Today, we’re looking at another called VISUAL CLEAVING.
In visual cleaving, you use some physical tokens of love to remind you of your mate and of your mutual love for each other.
But do we have any instances of this form of demonstration of Love in the Bible? Yes. Here are some:
“Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of of my hands: thy walls are continually before me.” (Isaiah 49:16). The Most High God Who sees all things still went on to engrave Israel on the palms of His hands; all because of the deep love and affection He has for them. When you deeply love your spouse you’ll delight in seeing tokens that pleasantly remind you of them!
In the Songs of Solomon 8:6 we read:
“Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death”. Here the Wife requested her husband to set tokens that represents her person as a Seals of love on his heart and arm respectively.
These are demonstrations of visual cleaving: God loves Israel and engraved his picture of her on His palms to always be reminded of His great love and affection for her. The Wife in the Songs of Solomon wanted her man to always see a token on his relationship with her and be always reminded of her.
So, you practice Visual Cleaving by always keeping small tokens around you that remind you of the love that you share. For example, keep a picture of your Mate in your Bible, on your office table, etc. Use their pictures as screen savers for your phones, computers, etc. As often as you see the pictures of your beloved, your Love for them is renewed and reinforced.
