🍎🍇🍒In yesterday’s devotional, “Singing the Song of Songs with Sacred Lips and Hallowed Voices,” we shared:
> “Spouses, it is time to practice the marriage God designed in the beginning! It is time to walk in the footsteps of the first couple.”
>
🍎🍇🍒God is the author of the Original, and He believes in its perfection. He honors the institution of marriage as He first established it in Eden—and so should you.
🍎🍇🍒Even in our spiritual walk, we are commanded to “earnestly contend” for the original faith delivered to the Apostles (Jude 3). Marriage is no different. When Jesus addressed the Pharisees regarding divorce, He didn’t point to the broken, tattered marriages of the first century. Instead, He redirected their gaze to the Original Design in Eden (Matthew 19:3-6).
🍎🍇🍒Even after the Great Flood, when God began humanity anew through Noah, He did not “update” or modify marriage. He desired the same blueprint He gave Adam. This is why He pronounced the same blessings upon Noah and his sons as He did in the Garden, commanding them to be fruitful and embrace intimacy just as the first couple did (Genesis 9:1-2).
🍎🍇🍒THE GARDEN OF PLEASURE
Take time to prayerfully study the first marriage. If you model your union after it, your home will become a “land of pleasure”—just as Eden was. In fact, the word Eden literally means Pleasure.
🍎🍇🍒Why did God place the first couple in a land of Delight? Because intimacy and love thrive best in an environment of joy. Therefore, bring as much pleasure as you can into your relationship. This is not just a suggestion; it is a divine command found in Proverbs 5:18 and Ecclesiastes 9:9.
🍎🍇🍒LIBERTY AND BODY CONFIDENCE
Zealously emulate the liberty of the first couple. They possessed a total freedom of body and spirit—free from shame, shyness, and timidity.
🍎🍇🍒What else can we learn from them? Body Confidence. Adam and Eve were not ashamed of their physical forms; they saw their bodies for what they truly were: the image and likeness of God. They reveled in their nakedness because there was no sin to cloud their vision.
Your nakedness is not something to be hidden from your spouse. Do not place more confidence in your clothes than you do in the body God gave you.
🍎🍇🍒Let the Word of God liberate your spirit, soul, and body from the worldly myths, superstitions, and taboos that have crippled so many modern marriages.
🍎🍇🍒POWERED BY TRUTH
Let your marriage be defined by absolute freedom, powered by the truth of God’s Word.
🍎🍇🍒While sin eventually eclipsed the first marriage—bringing darkness and the loss of their home—Christ has come. He came so that we might have life in great abundance (John 10:10). That abundant life is available right now to fuel your romance and strengthen your bond. Enjoy it by living your matrimonial life strictly according to God’s Word on Marriage!!
❤️💕 TONIGHT’S BEDROOM ASSIGNMENT
Reread this devotional together before sleep. Share your thoughts soberly and honestly:
🍎How can we bring more of the “Eden” atmosphere into our home?
🍎How can we intentionally bring more laughter and lightness into our home this week?
🍎In our relationship, do we still carry any “shyness” or “timidity” that keeps us from being fully open with one another?
🍎Are there traditions or myths we’ve picked up along the way that make us feel like we have to hide parts of ourselves from each other?
