WHEN GOD JOINS SPOUSES in marriage, He doesn’t walk away.
He stands WITH THEM to help them in their marital journey. And one of the ways He does this is by giving them divine guidance and direction.

In our Anchor scripture, we see a young man by name Joseph, who was on the verge of dumping his Wife, Mary, because of his suspicion and confusion over her most unusual pregnancy.

Just before Joseph could commit the great blunder that would have cost him a unique family, God gave him guidance through a dream. Joseph heeded the instructions he was given by an Angel in the dream and his marriage was saved.

Just like God cared for the Marriage of Joseph and Mary and gave him a dream to save it, so also is He interested in saving your marriage and family by giving you timely guidance.

DIVINE GUIDANCE
God’s divine guidance come in diverse ways.
In the life of Joseph, God guided him mostly by dreams. But He guides through other means as well. However, you need to be spiritually sober and sensitive to recognize when God is speaking to you and what He is saying.

1. GOD’S WRITTEN WORD
God guides basically through His written Word. For instance, “Though shalt not commit adultery” is His guidance to you on Infidelity. That command isn’t given to restrict you. It’s a RED LIGHT SIGNAL that’s continually flashing to warn you against walking into the snares, dangers, disgrace and judgements that are hidden in Adultery!(Proverbs 5:1-14; Hebrews 13:4). So, God’s Word is His basic means of leading you.
2. COUNSEL FROM YOUR SPOUSE OR OTHERS
God also leads by giving you guidance through fellow human beings. His counsel could come from the lips of your Spouse. It could come in form of a suggestion or a restriction; but if you would be humble enough to pay close attention, you’ll discover the wisdom of God in it. Many have lost their lives because they embarked on a trip their spouse humbly entreated them to avoid. You may know some instances of this.
3. THE STILL SMALL VOICE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
This is one of the most dominant ways God guides His children. Learn to be sensitive spiritually at all times. Listen for what the Holy Spirit might be speaking from your inner spirit. He’ll guide you as you listen. Especially at critical moments.
4. PERCEPTIONS
God also guides by giving you a strong sense of perception on a matter. For instance, Paul PERCEIVED that the voyage to Rome would be disastrous and openly said so(Acts 27:10). But his perception was disregarded and that disobedience almost cost everyone on the ship their lives.

Never rush into anything without first seeking God’s face. Ask God for guidance on any major move you want to make. Never relocate to a foreign nation with your family without first seeking God sincerely in prayer and getting His clear guidance and direction.
