QUEEN VASHTI WAS PRIVILEGED to be the Wife of a King whose Kingdom was so vast it stretched from India in Asia to Ethiopia in Africa and consisted of no less than one hundred and twenty seven provinces!
Sadly, she did not know the worth of her position. Nor the value of her privileges as the Queen. She took for granted the tremendous benefits that accrued to her parents and family because of her high status; which all came, not from merit, but because of Marriage. And just one night when she could have submitted to her husband and gained more favour in his sight, she lost everything! All because of her refusal to submit to her husband do the simple things he asked her to do:
to show her beauty.

Exactly what was so difficult in dressing up, putting on a crown and walking majestically on the podium to the admiration of all? Nothing difficult. But Vashti would have none of it.

Consequently, she was deposed and an orphan girl later took her place.

Dear married woman, treasure your position as a Wife. A Wife is higher than a woman. There are thousands of unmarried women of diverse shapes, shades and hues out there that are willing to do anything to be the Wife of the husband you’re trifling with and mistreating just because he’s easy going, friendly and God-fearing.

Let’s consider Vashti for a while.

In all likelihood, King Ahasuerus her husband was a very simple man and she probably had misbehaved towards him very many times in the past without any consequences. Mind you, this incident took place in the third year of King Ahasuerus’ reign(Esther 1:3). So, it’s most likely they married while he wasn’t yet King and he cherished her so much she had got familiar with getting away with disobedience to him. But when your husband who was once a common man becomes King, you should not wait to be told to honour and reverence him. Yes, if your husband loves you exceedingly, it’s wisdom on your part to recognize that it’s not because he’s silly. It’s all because God gave you favour in his sight. Recognize that it’s the Hand of God that’s at work in your marriage; and you must gladly honour your husband and joyfully submit to his authority. Your submission is a scepter of power that enables you to reign beside him as the Queen of your home.

Vashti was careless with her glorious throne and crown and a mere orphan girl called Esther came out of no where and took possession of both!

Maybe, your husband isn’t great yet, but that’s no reason to despise him and resist his authority in the Home. Submit to him and you’ll be part of the great future that God has planned for him when it comes.

Don’t let the devil deceive you to believe that Submission is difficult. It’s as easy as ABC.

Submission strengthens your husband emotionally making him function as a better husband to you. But when you’re rebellious and contentious towards him he’s wearied and seeks to be far away from you. Hear what the Bible says:

“It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.”(Proverbs 21:9) A brawling woman is a QUARRELSOME, RESISTANT, UNSUBMISSIVE AND CONTENTIOUS WOMAN. Don’t be that kind of woman.

Tonight, just before going to bed, Wife say this to husband three times: “MY DEAR HUSBAND, I TRULY LOVE YOU; AND I WILL SUBMIT TO YOU ALWAYS FROM NOW FORWARD, BY GOD’S GRACE.”
